Is the new Summer Bay location in walking distance to the strip?

I am looking for a place for next July. I will need more than one unit. I would love to get into HGVC at Flamingo, but I know that willl be a long shot and I can't afford to rent 2 units there. I am wondering about Summer Bay's new location. We will have a large group (approx 12), and I want a place where we can walk to the strip, go back and forth safely, etc. We will also have 2 teenagers and want to feel sae if we leave them at the resort in the evenings, and would also like a nice pool area.

Will Summer Bay be a good choice? I can do a trade there and get an extra vacation. or Where do you recommend?

It would be two long blocks to the Flamingo, and then from there more to anywhere else. You would be walking through a long block of deserted, razed properties, which I wouldn't call a good thing in any town...Personally I wouldn't walk it. I know other people may say (and do) different, but that is MHO. I've been a city dweller most of my life, and believe in safe rather than sorry. Its not just here, btw. Somebody on TUG complained about the sidewalks when they were walking from HGVC at the Las Vegas Hilton to The Strip, and I told them that wasn't a good walk either, although many did it.

If you only used the shuttle or had cars, that would be a different thing.

Thanks Fern. I thought that might be the case. I am wondering if the Grandview might be a good option for us if we have to take the shuttle anyway. with the teenagers I might feel better if they were there instead of in the thick of it. They also show having a thearter adn a bowling alley nearby. That would be good for them. If we ahve to drive or take a shuttle being a little further down the strip would not matter.

I was hoping Fern would answer this question for you, because she is good at specifics.

But I know I would not want to walk to the Strip from their old or new location, especially in July.

I *love* the idea of Grandview for teens. They have a pool at Grandview, of course, and being next to South Point really opens up their horizons. They could see a movie every day and still not see them all. Oh, and there is a small ice cream parlor (with Dryer's Ice Cream) right near the front door, too.

As you know, though, you'll need a couple of cars and/or use shuttles, etc., if you stay there. But the upside is there are several grocery stores nearby, as well as a lot of inexpensive places to eat. Don't miss Raising Cane's in front of the Outlet Mall if you like Chicken Fingers. That's all they serve (other than fries, Texas Toast and beverages), but WOW! And there are a lot of other "chain-type" places there with low prices. All out in front of the mall, you don't have to go inside to get to them.

Thanks Fern, you are a great source of information. Always honest!
Do you know if the Deuce goes to the Grandview?

The Deuce does not go to the Grandview. You can board another bus there and transfer at the SSTT transfer center though. Google "Las Vegas public bus" and look for Southern Nevada RTC for more info.
