Can I asked for some advise please, I have had an ongoing search with inverval to get a 2nd week at this resort, from 6 April 06, but managed to get a week at the Tradewinds in St petes, via RCI

Went to try and cancel the ongoing search, but it seems II have found me a match but I haven't recieved notification.

If I cancel this will I lose my exchange fee?

I know you cannot rent an II trade, but is swapping the week with another timeshare owner also breaking the rules?

I hope this is ok to post this here.

If you cancel within 24 hours of when the confirmation was made then there is no penalty. After that you lose the exchange fee and receive a cancellation replacement week back to your account.

Swapping an exchanged week is prohibited by II.

That seems right on.

The stickler would be when the right to cancel an exchange without penalty begins, when it is confirmed or when you are notified it is confirmed.

When you do your own transactions online in real time, rather than through ongoing searches, that point is not a problem. You always know when, exactly, you confirmed a transaction, and how long you have to cancel it without penalty.

I wonder about that myself. If you dont have email confirmation and instead get your confirmations by snail mail, then by the time you get it the 24 hours is up.

Also, sometimes you don't really have 24 hours. You can only cancel by calling - can't do it on line. If you confirm on line in the middle of the night, you only have the next day until the call center closes. In this case though, II was the one who confirmed.

I have cancelled two times now, both times I lost the exchange fee and got a replacement week. They told me it is supposed to have the trade power of the original week. In both cases that seems to be true.
