Is no AC in unit a deal breaker for Kona in November?

We've stayed in Maui without AC and it wasn't that bad. I'm looking at a unit in Alii Villas that doesn't have AC.

So long as you have Trade Winds it is OK. If the Trade Winds stop it can become unbearable.

That is an interesting question. We live in a Condo in Honolulu and when the afternoon sun beats down on the units on the sunny side of the building it does get hot and we feel that A/C is needed during that time. We are on the shady side of the building in the afternoon and have a breeze from the mountains to the ocean almost all the time and we never use A/C but we like it warm not cold that is why we left Long Island for Honolulu. However, others in the building run the A/C all day and night 365 days a year since they like it cool.

There is some difference between January and July in the temperatures but the main difference in Hawaii is the Sun and the winds that control the temperature.

Yes we stayed at Kaanapali for a week with no AC. I lounged around in my underwear unless we had company and I was OK.

Funny that you mention this development. We have stayed here a few times, pre timeshare ownership. I really liked it. We had a unit that faced the pool of the development next door, to the north. I don't remember if we had AC or not - but we didn't get afternoon sun in that particular unit. Younger me had no problem w/o AC, the current version of me couldn't do it.

My husband lounges around in shorts, underwear, and no shirt 365 days a year unless we have company that we invite. If company comes around without being invited they don't get to him to see him put anything addtional on.

Last 2 years we stayed on that part of the Big Island. 1st year without A/C it was miserable. 2nd visit with A/C was very nice. Was surprised how uncomfortable the week without A/C was and I like it hot.
