I am new to timeshare, I have an offer from HGVC for 8000 points alternate year for $20K with 13000 points as a promotion expires in 2 yrs or transfer to partner network. MF fee is $1000/yr. Can experts share your experience.

I just paid $3500 for 11,200 annual points, MF just over $1000. So I'd say the deal you are being offered is a ripoff. šŸ¤—

You are paying too much for too few points. Plus your MF/points is too high. You can buy much cheaper resale. For example, I purchase resale 15,360 for $5K with 15,360 saved points and 15,360 current year points. with MFs at $1345.34

Definitely worth considering HGVC. They have great resorts.

Definitely NOT worth considering buying HGVC from HGVC. See Posts #2 & #3.

Appreciate your response and will see if I can negotiate or find a resale deal for the same instead of going with the HGVC

Not going to happen, but good luck. Also watch out for a bait-n-switch to HVC trust points.

Rescind and Research.
You'll have plenty of opportunities to buy from any timeshare developer if you choose to later. But you'll only have one opportunity to rescind. Take advantage of it.

What do they mean by "partner network?" Maybe RCI?

HGVC is an awesome system. Rescind, research here on TUG and elsewhere and buy resale to get the best value deed. Make sure you rescind quickly - you only have a few days or you are stuck with this lemon deed. You can always get that deal later if you research and still want it (FWIW We've never seen anyone who has gone back to get that "deal." because you can pay a fraction in resale market.)
