Is it difficult to reserve Kaanapali HRC?

Considering Kaanapali HRC but I have heard horror stories of reserving Hawaii with other timeshare programs.

What has been your experience?
- have to wake up and book the second 12am strikes 12 months ahead or it has been reasonably flexible to your desired weeks?

(I do realize planning ahead is key but curious how difficult it has been)

Are you exchanging within the hyatt residence club program or using II? I have exchanged in 3 times for week long stays within hyatt, not aware that they deposit any/many with II. Found the weeks online.

It's not impossible if you own within the Hyatt system, especially if you're willing to reserve during the shoulder seasons of late spring (after spring break but before the end of the schoolyear) or the fall. Exchanging through II is extremely difficult, since almost all of the availability is snapped up by Hyatt owners before it would ever hit II.

I am thinking buying a week under the HRC program, specifically in Kaanapalli. I get the shoulder seasons are not difficult but due to the kids, I would really like to leverage this for spring breaks and summer holidays. Possible (but I realize not super easy) or difficult and I have to book to the second?

Thanks again for your help!

Buy the week, the view and the level you want. Problem solved.

Since Spring Break tends to be a specific week, if you really need that week at that location, you might want to think about buying there.

Summer being months long, you have a shot at trading in. I have seen a summer week every once in a while. Those sightings were my being bored and curious at what else might be available system wide, so take this with a big grain of salt. One thing to think about, all the units in Hawaii are Daimond season, so you will need a comparable unit to trade with.
