Is it better to deposit through II or Vistana?

The situation: I own a 2BR Sheraton Lakeside Terrace ski week in Avon, CO (Beaver Creek Resort). I am looking to exchange for a 2BR ski week in Breckenridge, CO or Park City, UT next season. In the past, we have gotten Grand Timber Lodge and Grand Lodge on Peak 7 (just after it opened) in Breck by depositing through II.

The question: is it better to deposit the Lakeside Terrace week into II via the Vistana website or through Intervalworld.com directly? Does one give any benefits (or come with any restrictions) over the other?

Many thanks in advance!

If you are exchanging through II then it doesn't matter if you initiate the deposit through II or through Vistana. If you do it through II, you should be able to search immediately vs having to wait a day or two if you do it though the dashboard.

You don't get the choice, you have to deposit via your VSN account. They will deposit a week that has blended trading power for the season that you own in.

But I do have a "Deposit Unit" button associated with the unit in my II account. Is there any difference using that button vs doing it on Vistana.com? I suspect it doesn't matter, though doing it on the II website might provide the ability to do an instant exchange. Though it would still be pending confirmation of the deposit.

Possibly: the underlying fact, I intended to convey is that Vistana decide which weeks gets deposited, as opposed to the owner booking it and then depositing it like happens with some other brands.

You will probably get a week with a combined deposit power of the season you own.

For many years, Vistana owners have been unable to deposit a reserved week. You are just given, as Cindy indicated, a combined season trading power.
So there is no difference who deposits it.
On the other hand, if you do a request first, you still have use of your week if your request does not come thru Or yiu change your mind before confirmed.

If I am reading this right, I would reserve my week through Vistana at my home resort and *also* do a request-first through Interval, correct? Or is that not allowed?

No, you don't reserve your week. You would just to into the II website and place a request.

Got it, thanks. Do request first requests have less priority than deposit first? My apologies if these are basic questions -- I haven't done much with II since COVID.

Nobody knows for sure if request first has less Trading power than deposit first, if it does its not much and may only matter if you are wanting to trade up a couple of unit sizes and a couple of seasons. Some report it has lower TP, that's not been my experience, as long as you are about 6-9 months head of the end of your usage year when requesting. Possibly even later, but I've never needed to try.
If you know you aren't going to use your ownership depositing first is a good thing as its just less faff to do request first then call to cancel and then deposit. If you want to retain the ability to use your ownership another way or if you reasonably expect II to have a promotion for depositing in the future that you want to take advantage of, request first works fine.
