Is Destination Points Availability Tied To Revenue Availability?

I have a reservation at Marriott's MountainSide from 3/14-3/15. I have paid for a two-bedroom villa with cash, but it came to my attention that I may be able to save some money by renting destination points. There is no more availability at the property, if I cancel my cash reservation, will a points reservation become available?

Fastr is likely correct, but in the end no one really knows. "Marriott" controls II, MVC, the DC (and its exchange program), as well as the hotel/rental side. They manipulate the reservation system and inventory for their own benefit, purportedly using computer algorithms and models to predict demand for the DC and making weeks reservations through automation, unlike all other owners who have to call or login.

I personally don't believe there are fixed buckets that are never violated.

If Marriott "owns" a week (not sold) they can put it any inventory they want. Just like you have the option to deposit, rent or use your week. They just have more viability.
