How are things in Charleston now that the storm has moved out? Road closures, etc.? Planning on driving to Edisto Beach on Saturday and wondering if it would be wise to wait or cancel.

It's 5:15 AM and I woke up to the news that Debby is causing some problems this morning. Berkley County, which one crosses to come into Charleston on I-26 from the West of Charleston, and Hwy 17 from the North, has received eight inches of rain in the last six hours. The ground is saturated and they are having flash flooding and road closures. The band is moving towards Charleston and North of Charleston towards Myrtle Beach. As far South as Edisto itself might be OK but some outward bands may be moving South into the Wadmalaw, Hollywood area which is close to Seabrook/ Kiawah and on the route towards Edisto. The call is for people to continue to shelter in place which means that very little will be open. I would cancel.

Thanks. Spoke to the resort and they are about 90 % functional. So, we decided to take a chance and go. We can't change our vacation week, so we'll make the best of things.

Hope it all works out. I just love Charleston. Sorry for the repeat, my daughter did her residency at MUSC. When she arrived in her Nissan Xterra, her landlord said, oh great - you have an SUV - as she needed it in big storms during high tide. Boy do those streets (on the peninsula) flood. And just as quickly it runs off. Best of luck to you, hope you have a great week (the calm after the storm).
