Went for our owners update at our resort on Hilton Head to get a golf package and we were presented with info from our sales guy that i was not familiar with. For a price, we could upgrade our EOY week and get VIP status with Interval International. According to our sales guy, the VIP status would allow us to book/rent weeks for 300- 500 weekly. I was only half listening to his pitch so not sure what i may have missed. He spoke of the unused inventory throughout the island, at all resorts and said II makes more $ on the VIP than on the traditional trades; makes sense if true. He said all resorts on HHI were at 30% vacancy this week (early March); checked with Grand Ocean later in day and they had 5 available units out of 200+. I did an exchange request for HHI using my Marriott Harbour pt summer week for anytime from current through May and came up with nothing. Is there anything to the VIP deal ??????
Thanks to all who reply
PS- I mentioned TUG to the sales guy and he played dumb, never heard of it.

I havent heard of II VIP, only Gold and Platinum. I wonder if he was either:

(1) referring to II's Getaways (same as RCI's Last Call), where they blow out weeks at firesale prices. However this is a benefit to anyone just by joining II, although Gold and Platinum members enjoy $25 and $50 discounts, respectively off the rates.

(2) referring to Platinum Escapes, which are some superduper deals offered several times per year exclusively to Platinum members.

In both cases, the rental rates are higher than II traditional exchange fees. Also, in both cases you can only rent what II is making available, not just anything in inventory, and they can range from $200 to $1000 or more depending on location and time of year.

Lastly, know that you can do 2-for-1 exchanges in II without being a "VIP", so there is a lot of bang for your buck already without spending an arm and a leg with the developer.

Here is II Gold VIP (although I don't think they call it Gold VIP since they started Platinum):

I didn't notice the Platinum listed as VIP though.

Here is an II VIP (for employess of ?):

If you notice on the left, they reference Gold VIP & VIP Club? I was wondering is this might be an old site/link prior to Platinum, but it does mention employees, so there may be Platinum, Gold VIP, and II VIP (for timeshare industry employees?).
