Hello Tuggers.

I have an Interval Gold account via my HRC timeshare. I also have a MVC but do not have a II account. A couple of quick questions:

1) Is it worth it to upgrade to Platinum?
2) Are there any other benefits through the MVC II account that I would get other than priority Marriott exchanges?
3) Other than exchanges what are the benefits you get the most use of?

Thanks

The Interval Gold level seems pretty useless to me -- really not anything that matters to me beyond the slight discount to getaways. To rub salt in wounds, you have to pay full price to upgrade to platinum with a Hyatt account. The biggest benefit of II Platinum is that guest certificates are free. Another big benefit is the discount on getaways. I have been able to get Platinum Escape deals, and I was pleased with them, but this last round of Platinum Escapes was a real stinker.

I regularly send my family / friends on getaways (particularly if I plan a trip where everyone goes to the same location).

Hyatt is a good trader in II, but if you have an II account with MVC, I would probably upgrade the MVC account to platinum and purchase all your getaways through that account. The biggest reason for that is that every once in a while Hyatt weeks pop up for cheap in II. I was able to snag the Highlands Inn in Carmel for about $600, and have seen wild oak ranch weeks dip as low as around $350.

It could be worth it to keep platinum on the Hyatt account if you have a lot of points and plan on doing II trades for friends / family to save on guest certificate fees.

I wouldn't do platinum on both accounts though.
