I am new to using interval. I am a trust points owner. Can someone guide me in how to use request first using trust points. Do I need to have a reservation number? Are there any posts about using trust points & interval? Thanks for any help.

Can a legacy owner elect points and then deposit them in Interval or is this only for Trust owners?

You sure can. Enrolled owners have an MCZ unit under My Units in their II account that they can use to exchange points. You can't really deposit points though. You have to make a request first exchange. You can get a deposit placeholder if that exchange request doesn't come through and the points will otherwise expire.

Also you can't exchange the points for a Marriott unit through II so the regular exchange fee would apply. Marriott accounts are also not eligible for eplus so any retrades would also incur the regular exchange fee.

I'll have to figure if the points will get me more weeks than renting or locking off and trading or just trade in the Destination Club. I'm retiring in June and I plan to experience the 2-week vacation as often as possible. We've only ever done one week at a time due to the job. So I cannot request other Marriott's with my points? I only have Frenchman's Cove units in the DC so locking off isn't an option, but points might work better, especially if it is a non-Marriott.

Thanks for your insight. I used to know this stuff at the beginning, but never used it and have long since forgotten.

I think the key thing with point trading vs old style II trading is that with points it is very hard to "trade Up"

With points, you get what II and MVC believes the trade is worth

BUT with the old style week deposits in II, You can often get a much better week in trade than the week you deposited. This is most true if you can trade in the slower season and /or travel last minute. Also you can often trade a 1 bd for a 2 bd or a studio for a 1 bd.

BUT if you have a really good week that can not lock-off, you almost always do better with points since "trade-up" are almost never available since most everything is a trade down.
