Interval International Certificate Question

Hi and thanks for your help with Interval International and a travel certificate I have. The certificate itself says: "Unit Details
3 Bedrooms Sleeps 8 Total, 8 Private Full Kitchen." However, when I am looking at the hotel property I am about to exchange (pay the $460 to book), it has a Triangle that has 2 on the left, 4 on the right, and 0 in the middle, which I thought means 2 have a private room and only 4 will fit in the room total. It is the Marriott Grande Vista. I am worried that I'm not actually booking the 3 bedroom setup that the certificate claims. Has anyone experienced this? Thank you!

The certificate is good for up to a 3BR but you’re booking a studio

This looks like one of the freebie ACs. Those don't very often see the larger Marriott units and it would be rather rare to see a 3BR.

If you are patient and flexible, you might be able to pick up a 1 bedroom MGR or MGV. I got a 1 bedroom in January this year using one of those. Actually paid less for my confirmation. It will be rare to get a 2 bedroom (maybe last minute) and even much, much rarer to get a 3 bedroom.

Be sure to check getaways.
Sometimes they are available at a comparable price to AC’s but be aware they are final sale.

I agree MVC’s are pretty rare with an AC as are 3 BR units.

No worries about letting it expire if you can’t use it. You will likely get another and can try again.

The unit size on your certificate is not what you get to match/book. It is what you use to book something else. It may only match something smaller, as you did in your example.

To add, you're essentially searching for an exchange and like any exchange, you can only see what's available AND what the deposit has sufficient trade power to see. While the accommodation certificates vary with what they can see when you search, they will see only limited inventory, essentially the things easy to get anyway or short notice. And for an AC from a MVC deposit, assume you will not be able to exchange back into Marriott properties. In the future I'd suggest not depositing your unit as a full 3 BR if it's a lock off. There isn't much benefit of depositing a 3 BR over a 2 BR and you'd gain a second deposit if you can lock off. It's fairly unusual to see 3 BR units other than places that are very easy to get usually off season, like Grande Vista. Plus most resorts don't have 3 BR or if they do, very few.

Just FYI I have the exact same AC in my account and it is just the “valued customer” type that II gives away to help use up excess inventory.
It was not due to a deposit.
I have been getting these for years and they usually do show 3br but as we know there are seldom excess 3br units sitting in inventory.

I’ll also add to the OP that I searched inventory using my 2 br MVC week this morning for the dates you showed and the only inventory available at Orlando MVC are studio units even for a regular exchange.
I agree keep searching, something may pop up last minute.
Good luck.

Thank you all for your explanations-- clearly I still have some learning to do and I'm glad I asked before booking :)
