Has anyone had any problems or have any advice re if it is a good or bad idea to renew my membership with Interval International for 5 years vs. 1 year at time? With this "new world" of bankruptcies we are living in.....any chance I would pay for 5 years and they disappear before I get all 5 years? If I renew for 5 years, they give me one year free! I am a "newbie" so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think you are safe. II is not a capital-intensive business. And its services will continue to be needed by timeshare owners, probably as much as ever. If the number of exchanges diminishes, II can simply let go of some of its people. Only its commitments for facilities leases are likely to be fixed expenditures.

We are paid up through 2019 so that's good to know. Back in the summer we received $200 off a Getaway to lock in another five years, so we thought, why not?

Yeah, I figured with $200 off a Getaway, that brought it down to around $300 for the five year (Gold) extension. We book over 10 Getaways a year usually - big family that likes to travel (especially to Marriotts).

My RCI membership is only for three years so far (laughter).

5 year membership.

I took advantage of a similar deal 3 years ago. If you exchange every year its a deal.

while the money saved for multiple years is a good thing, i am always afraid that the program may change(not for the better) and i will be stuck with a useless membership. also, i generally either use or rent my units.
