Interval Gold Membership - paid for?

Hi all. I am trying to solve a puzzle. Maybe you can help. We own two Vistana timeshares. We have Interval Gold and have never paid separately for it. We got a bill from Interval this month saying we owe the annual II fee. They acknowledged they can't seem to find who paid this in the past for us. We have had it for many years. They say we owe the annual fee now. My question: Could II Gold membership have come with our Vistana purchase. Does it normally? Thoughts?

If you buy direct from Vistana they will give
a 1-year gold II membership. At least they did for both of our developer purchases.

I didn’t pay to renew the gold part and it simply reverted to the basic membership which is fine for our needs. They do try to make it sound like it is something you must pay - but it is optional.
