I have one eplus trade left. My week expires on Nov 29. If I gambled and took a Hawaii week in Nov what would happen if Hawaii extends their quarantine? Would I then get a replacement week or certificate? Would I get a "too bad, so sad" from Interval? I am confused because their terms say:
=== If you cancel an exchange initially confirmed between March 14, 2020, and May 31, 2020, with travel before December 31, 2020**** ===

  • Option: Request an instant confirmation for an alternative destination and/or travel date.
    • Do I have a booking window? No, as the substitute accommodations are confirmed at the time of cancellation.
    • Do I pay an additional exchange fee? No.
    • When do I need to complete travel? There’s no restriction on your travel date.
My eplus was initially confirmed in 2019. These terms don't indicate what will happen if I use an eplus trade now. I will call in the morning but I thought I'd put it out there if anyone knew. I'd like to go visit my uncle who is pretty sick.

I think you can get another no cost, on the spot exchange made by CS if 1) you exhaust your ePlus trades and 2) your original exchange was for check in between mid-March to May 2020 and 3) Hawaii still has the 14 day quarantine in effect when you cancel. I think if Hawaii did really implement the neg Covid test option to skip quarantine then you'd be out of luck.

I had a similar situation, with my 3rd ePlus exchange for Hawaii, then had to cancel. But I originally traded with Hyatt points so got an AC instead.

Probably not. If you are booking now for something in November I think they know you are taking a risk which they aren't going to cover that risk. So no free replacement week or cert. They would likely let you rebook while on the phone waiving the 60 day restriction and beyond the original expiration date but even then they would probably make you pay the full retrade fee. So if you do book it, and then need to cancel you would want to have a specific week in mind to rebook immediately.

Well, I called yesterday and got an experienced rep (can't remember her name but she was very good). She understood the entire situation and was confident of her answer. She said that I could use my final eplus exchange and if, at 30 days out the quarantine order was still in place in Hawaii I would receive an AC good for 12 months from the day that I made the final eplus retrade. She was very clear that the AC could not be used for Hawaii in the future. She also said that there would be no charge when I rebooked it. It's tempting because there are a lot of Hawaii weeks available in Nov - even Thanksgiving week - but since I am not sure where my uncle will be (he's getting chemo on Oahu now but lives on the BI) in the end we decided that we didn't want to deal with another canceled trip to Hawaii, and we're going to keep our current exchange in Palm Desert. But I thought I would put it out there for anyone who wants to roll the dice. :)
