Does Marriott typically charge for internet access? In an effort to build up points I made a hotel reservation and the description mentioned a $9.95 per day charge for internet access (even when upgrading to the concierge level). This was at a Marriott hotel and not a MVCI resort. So I am wondering if this is specific to their hotels since I remember reading that the resorts do not charge?

thanks!

Not all of their hotels charge for internet service. Many Courtyards have free access.

Most full-service Marriott and Renaissance hotels charge for high-speed Internet access. In the United States, the typical charge is $9.95 per 24 hours.

Limited-service Marriott brands — such as Courtyard, Fairfield Inn, Springhill Suites, Towneplace Suites, and Residence Inn — generally provide free high-speed Internet access. At least, that's been my experience (which is limited to the United States).

I recently stayed at a full-service Marriott at Long Beach Airport for several days. Wireless Internet in the lobby was free, but wired Internet in the rooms was $9.95 daily. After using my MacBook in the lobby, I discovered that I could successfully pick up the wireless from the lobby in my room.

Their hotels do, TSs don't...

It depends on the T/S location. We had free access at Marriott's Grand Chateau (LV) and at Seaview (NJ), but there was a charge at both Grande Vista and Doral (Fl)

My understanding was that all MVCI properties now provide free internet in the villas. It may be wired or wifi depending on the location.
