So I am one of those people who managed to enroll my two Marriott purchased weeks and a resale week which was not recorded with Marriott until after the deadline date had passed in the DC program. THe resale week should not have been eligible for enrollment as Marriott was not notified of the deed recording until 6 months after the deadline date that was originally stated. If you will recall Marriott appeared to have a "glitch" in its system that was discovered by a TUG member. THis glitch (which was temporary in nature) allowed resale weeks which should not have been eligible to be enrolled in the DC points system to be enrolled. THey opened the door and a few of us slipped through it.

What is interesting is that when I go to the MVCI website and click on Plan and Book my vacation and click on "Use My Week" for that resale resort the page that I see states that I can use my week or trade my week for 100,000 Marriott Rewards points. Now I did not click the "Trade for Marriott Rewards" points button that is there because I did not expect that option and am not sure I want to use it. However I should not be able to have that option as the week is resale.

Do you think that when Marriott enrolled my illegal resale week in DC points they totally messed up and also gave me the option to trade for MR points which I should not be allowed to do???

Can any of you who have legally enrolled resale weeks in the DC points program check on those resorts by clicking on the Use My week option and see if you see the option to trade for MR points?

Kathy, I believe when a resale week was enrolled, it became eligible for being traded for MRP's as well. I know ours was. That was one of the benefits I saw in enrolling as it wasn't allowed for resale purchases before. I realized that the value isn't as good as it used to be, but we liked the idea of having the option to use it if we wanted to.

But I bought my resale week privately and not from Marriott resales. I was under the impression that privately purchased resale weeks absolutely were not eligible to trade for MR points. I did not think that enrolling a resale week in the DC points program automatically bestowed the option to trade for MR points?????

Kathy; all resale weeks purchased prior to 6/20/2010 are eligible for points if the Resort offered them to begin with and you enroll said week into the DC program. It doesn't matter whether the resale week was purchased from Marriott or from a private party.

Well, really in Kathy's situation, any resale week enrolled in the DC program is now eligible to trade for Marriott Reward points. I mention this, because Kathy actually purchased her resale week post 6/20/2012.

so once Marriott allowed me to enroll my resale week in the DC program by having a "glitch" in their system even though the deed was not recorded until after the 6/20/10 date I was automatically granted the right to trade that resale week for MR points????

Yes, this applies to any resale buyer that enrolled their weeks (and those weeks were eligible to trade for MRPs).

We have two resale weeks that are enrolled and can now trade them for MRPs.
