Good trade.. Advantage of the Marriott 21 day preference and that a lot of people stay away from Shelter Cove as it is not on the beach.

I see that you own at Sunset Pointe. We love Harbour Point and Sunset Pointe! I am glad most shy away from them, more space for us!

What a coincidence!

We are going to Harbour Point early August, too! The resort looks very nice! First trip to Hilton Head! We rented a week from an owner. I have spent the past two days figuring if we are going to drive from NJ, take the Amtrak train, or try to get a flight. Decisions.....

I just got a call this afternoon - we bought our very first timeshare last week and just heard Marriott waived ROFR (Whew!) We bought Manor Club Sequel lock off platinum. So glad to hear you were able to get an instant summer week in Hilton Head! Makes me feel even better about our decision to enter to new world of time ownership!

Congrats on your trade! Enjoy Hilton Head!!

I'll never forget the comments of a Marriott salesperson when we attended a sales presentation at Barony Beach Club. We told him that we were Disney members and that we were thinking about buying more Disney points, and staying on future visits to HHI at the Disney resort in Shelter Cove. He said, "if you're going to drive hundreds of miles to HHI, why stop 3/4 of a mile short of the beach," you need to buy here at Barony Beach Club and be at the beach.

We're not fans of HarborPointe. It was not purposefully built by Marriott, and it just doesn't feel to us like those resorts that are purposefully built by Marriott.

In terms of getting to HHI, if you can get a nonstop flight to Savannah at a reasonable cost, that makes that option a no-brainer to me. If you are going to have to change planes somewhere to get to HHI, compare the costs of flying directly on to HHI, and to renting a car on HHI (rental car costs may be much higher on HHI than at SAV airport) vs flying in to Savannah Airport. In many summer's past, both Delta and US Airways regional airlines flew into the airport on HHI. We've flown to HHI airport several times, and have discovered that US Airways (through Charlotte) is the more attractive option over Delta, as US Airways has many more flights per day to HHI than Delta, and if a Delta flight should cancel, you'd find yourself stuck in Atlanta for hours or a day or more. Flying into and out of Savannah is pretty effortless, but flying into an out of the Hilton Head Island airport is really a pleasure.

That's a personal choice. Not everyone who goes to HHI is going there for the beach (or has kids who need to be entertained and distracted).

I own at both Barony and Harbour Point. Although Harbour Point in not on the beach, I always enjoy my stay there and have exchanged into the resort using my Cypress Harbour week. I love the gorgeous sunsets, the view of Broad Creek, and the quiet family atmosphere at the resort. The pools have never been crowded when we are there in the summer (4th of July week) and there are plenty of unoccupied chairs around the pool. We always ride our bikes to the stores and to the beach. Kroger is scheduled to redevelop The Mall at Shelter Cove which should attract more stores and restaurants.

good morning...
This is why DC points can be really cool...

A summer week at Harbour point is 1250/Sunset Point is 1400 (both 2 bedrooms) Garden View at Barony is 3750 Grande Ocean 4500. One can stay THREE weeks at the Shelter Cove porperties for the price of one GO BB week...

just sayin...

puckmanfl,
That is one of the reasons we enrolled our weeks in the Destination Club. In 2013, we plan to convert Cypress Harbour to points and stay at Harbour Point for 12 nights instead of one week. We can also convert our OceanWatch week to points and stay almost 3 weeks. Since we love Harbour Point, this works for us. If we want to go to the beach, we can get day passes at Barony.

The other option you have which works really well is to take the shuttle HP and SP have to the beach.
