We’re staying at Marriott’s DSV1 for the first week of the March Indian Wells tennis tournament. I know there’s no shuttle available so does anyone know if there are unusual traffic tie ups between Palm Desert and the tennis venue?

I've only been to the day sessions and the traffic wasn't too bad, it's only about a 5 mile drive from where you're staying. It's a little trickier with night matches figuring out what time to get there, the night sessions typically start at 6pm but it really depends when the day sessions end, I've been to day sessions that didn't end until 9pm because of long matches.

Pay $20 for a preferred parking pass off Craigslist. It saves a ton of time. If you're going for the day session, practice courts start at 8am, so you can get there early to miss traffic. The evening sessions is bit harder to time because you don't know when day session finishes. The first week definitely is better than the second week.

Well, we were settled in to the unit last night anticipating a great week of tennis. Then they cancelled the event based on exactly one diagnosed case of coronavirus in the entire county. Why aren’t they closing this entire Marriott resort since we are also thousands of strangers in close contact? This is beyond ridiculous and I feel for all the people who needed this huge event to provide jobs and business revenue. Imagine being a food vendor fully stocked for the crowds. How to recoup? Idiotic. Media-induced panic and government officials with hair triggers.
