Pet neglect? I doubt it. If Fluffums was still around, she'd be thrilled to have me here all the time. We'd be hitting parks all over the city.

I meant in terms of people losing their jobs and not being able to take the pet to the vet, etc.

Oh! Well, if the unemployment check does actually help "make them whole", and the other check isn't devoted to other overdue bills, I would hope that wouldn't be an issue. Flea drops alone are pricey!

I will hope that someone in need of medical care for themselves or family (dogs are family to me) will either find a provider willing to give them a break, or others will pitch in to help. I am sure my vet would have accepted payments over time, since she knew my girl from 8 weeks to age 19, and I always paid in full at time of service. I'm a dog person, someone should ask me if they need help getting a pooch treatment. I am certain that I am not the only one.

I just said this to my husband today. There will unfortunately be more domestic abuse, child abuse, suicides and murder suicides, alcoholism, depression, and other illnesses due to people not being able to get their annual screening tests, and also from the stress this is causing.

Yes you are right. I read today that crisis lines are seeing a large jump in calls. Most of the problems you mentioned will be from the financial crisis and unemployment. There is a link between poverty and job loss and social problems and mental health problems.

I live in a very small community. All our neighbors are great and mainly senior citizens. Examples. I have left my garage door wide open on three (3) difference occasions for more than five (5) hours.

Nothing have been every stolen from our home. One time we were on vacation in SC and our neighbor called us at 7pm by cellphone to let me know my garage door was open. I just asked him to check the inside of my home and to closed my garage door. We all have our neighbors cellphone numbers in case of an emergency.

We check on one another, everyone knows everyone by name, we have a handy man in our community who does odds jobs for a little of nothing.

We are less than a 1/2 mile from a hospital, our police and fire departments .

The only thing I fear are strange riding in community.

Our community is not gated. We were in the country for about forty (40) years but now a younger generation how found us. They are building homes & condos all around us.

We are protected in one way. We are surrounded and protected by wetlands.
Plus, we have deer, rabbits, squirrels, turkey’s, and those Canadian Geese to enjoy. I think. I really dislike all those wild turkeys and geese.

Finally, every male in our community have served in the military and have been honorably discharged. We are have weapons and We know how to use them to stop the enemy. IMHO.

Sounds a lot like the neighborhood we just moved to.
