Heard last night on news that US Air is increasing flight to Europe starting in March. Didn't say anything about fares. My DIL couldn't find anything under $1000 for Lisbon on August. Hope this helps her.

your DIL might be best to consider travelling via UK abd fitting in a few days in London as flight prices US-UK are much cheaper normally than US-LIS. I live in Madeira and am looking at New York for sometime soon but flights from Lisbon are in the region of £500 return plus connection FNC-LIS of around £130 ish whereas i can get to UK for £150 and LGW-NYC for around £200

Thank you for your suggestion. My son is going for his job and his fare is paid for. I think she asked her travel agent to just get her to Europe for a reasonable fare and she will get to Lisbon from there.
