Is there some way I can stop the endless calls from RCI VC's anytime I put a week on hold on-line? I find it amazing that they upcharge Last Calls if I book them through a VC because of manpower costs, but I get no less than six calls a day every single time I put a week on hold. They're obviously not lacking in manpower hours. I'm eternally frustrated by all these phone calls. I will confirm a held week if and when I decide to do so. I neither need nor appreciate the incessant prodding by RCI. Is there the equivalent of a "Do Not Call" registry with regard to these follow-ups?

I know--I'm not supposed to respond to these RCI questions, but couldn't resist this one.

Tiring of the intrusive calls by clueless guides some time ago, I just called RCI and told them to flag my account as "NEVER CALL ME! If I want something, I have your number". It has worked well.

Yes, Madge, I would very much liketo know your answer as I also received no less than 8 messages on my phone regarding an urgent matter while I was away on an RCI exchange. It turned out that it was about a week I myself put on hold while I was away. When I rang back, the VC said that she had been able to find a match for my search, I was so lucky and that it was urgent that I decide immediately. My questions are:
1. How can a VC think that she actually found the match when in fact I had done it online? Can't your VCs tell whether something is a match to an ongoing search or whether a member has held it online?
2. If not, then is there anyway of enabling them to know so that members such as we do not get these unneccesary calls whenever we put a unit in hold?

Thank you.

Vodo,

I've mentioned before that a unit on hold, if not released, creates an ongoing search that continues. This then generates a call from a Guide. In the past, it was not uncommon for our Guides to receive feedback from members that they had either forgotten about or been distracted from following up on units they had placed on hold. Reminder calls allow Guides to offer the units again and cancel the searches for those members who decide not to confirm.

When you place a unit on hold, whether online or with a Guide, our dialer system will schedule a follow-up call from a Guide the next day - usually not until noon or after. If you have confirmed or released the unit and stopped the search prior to the time that the follow-up call was scheduled to occur, the dialer system will recognize that a call is no longer needed.

Overall, this process has met with positive feedback and results. However, I can certainly recognize that not everyone may feel the same way. If you are able to pick up the call and let the Guide know you haven't decided yet but don't need another follow-up call, your account will be removed from the automated dialing system. If you do not answer and simply make note of the number on Caller ID, our system will continue to try your number.

While members may request that we not contact them about promotional offers by telephone, they will still receive calls in connection with searches when they elect to use the ongoing search feature.

If we could opt out of phone calls all together and opt in for emails.. I think it would save RCI a tremendous amount of $$

I'd love to get an email as soon as I have a match.. I'm sure this is coming someday..

Dave,

Phone calls overall are very effective. However, we are also continually reviewing new potential processes and avenues of communication. E-mail is a popular and rapidly growing communication tool, and I fully expect we'll only expand our use of it going forward.
