New to the forums but seriously considering buying into the Starwood program. I will be in Cancun this coming May and want to check out the property/units at Lagunamar and potentially buy in at that time.
As I understand, there are referral offers in place from current owners to prospective buyers for specific promotional offers, i.e. 4 nights for $319 + 5k SPG points...if anyone is a current owner and has access to this type of referral and interested can you please PM me?
Cheers!

I took the Westin Lagunamar tour in December and they were horrible. I could not even get a price quote from them. There is a price chart by the door and I snuck a peak. A Platinum 2BR week is priced around $35,000. The same week sells in the secondary market for $7,000 to $10,000. If you desperatly need staroptions, the 148,100 points week at Kierland sells for $19,000.
If you buy retail at Lagunamar foir $35,000, you TUG membership should be cancelled and all your posts in this forum deleted.
This was our experience on both of our presentations at Lagunamar. They won't even quote prices unless you are interested in buying. Why would I be interested in buying if I don't know how much it costs?
Congrats on finding this forum.
The Starwood program is great - however, buy resale.
Look at how much Lagunamar costs on the resale market - and compare to buying from SVO. HUGE difference. I am not saying to buy Lagunamar on resale market unless you plan to use it regularly. If you do a Sales presentation - watch out for the use of fuzzy math to convince you to buy from them.
Suggest to first heavily research all aspects of the resale market (including outside Starwood) to determine which best fits your vacation needs, but rarely does that include buying from SVO unless you have a very specific purpose and have the disposable income (upfront and coming years).
