In-flight dining was already losing its luster. The pandemic could be its demise.

I wonder how this applies to international flights, business class. While the food on domestic flight has been abominable, the international airlines were falling over each other as who could serve the best food created by some renoun chef. Of course, they charged a mint, but apparently the airlines learned that the five percenters would pay the whatever the price to get flat bed seating and good food so that they could arrive in Europe well rested and ready to go. Take away the premium food, do people start to question the sky high ticket prices.

I like getting food from a concourse restaurant "to go" anyway.

There’s another story on that page that says hotels may do away with their breakfast buffets. When we do stay at a hotel we always stay at holiday inn express. My kids love their breakfast.

I thought I had heard that hotel buffet breakfasts are gone. I've seen mention of people getting some kind of boxed breakfast.

We stayed at a Best Western recently and got a boxed breakfast which included a hard-boiled egg, apple, and some pre-packaged items.

There is a lot of differing ways to have the free breakfast. Like, having the attendant be the server. Or pre-packaging the food and handing it to a customer. Or making sure the person going into the food area has a mask and uses hand sanitizer before stepping foot in it.

I am a truck driver, during the deep dark part of the pandemic, truck stops made it where customers could not do self-serve. Want a drink or a hot-dog? Order it with the attendant. If the customer has a cup already, the attendant would put the drink of choice into their cup so he/she could put it in their cup elsewhere. And they all erected "glass" (I'm guessing acrylic or clear plastic) between the cashier and customer. Many in states who are in a certain phase of reopening are allowing customers into the food area as before, but they are keeping the barriers up between cashiers and customers, I have a feeling those may stay ("New Normal").
