I'm Using an RCI Weeks Membership that Expired in 2008!

My RCI Weeks membership expired n 2008. I used to own an RCI Points timeshare, and I was told that I get a free RCI Weeks membership because I paid for the RCI Points membership. However, I sold my RCI Points timeshare last year and included the RCI Points membership. I have been using my RCI Weeks membership since then.

Do I need to renew my RCI Weeks membership now? My concern is that RCI will try to charge me for a Weeks membership from 2008 since this is when my membership expired.

If you want to. I doubt they'll come after you.

If you had an RCI Points account, that included an RCI Weeks account as well - so you RCI weeks account wouldn't have expired in 2008 if you still had a Points account. I suspect that they never closed your account, and didn't transfer the actual membership - instead they probably set up a new membership for the new owners.

If you can still log on and access everything on RCI, you should be able to see when your account is set to expire. You RCI weeks portions of you membership probably was set as expiring a year or two out from the use date of your last eligible deposit, because they needed to allow you to search that far out.

So, yes you might need to renew/extend your membership, but if you've had access all along, I don't think you need to worry about retroactive membership fees.

RCI is SO good at anything related to computers that it's possible that as long as the other person keeps renewing the Points membership, your Weeks membership will be considered "paid". The glitch might come if and when they ever decide they also want a free Weeks account. It's also possible that they already "own" your Weeks account as far as RCI is concerned since the two accounts were linked together in RCI's records. That might concern me a bit because your exchanges might bear their name and "require" a guest certificate.
