Illegal, right?

He probably doesn't know that he can lose his II account for selling off an exchange.

I had to laugh, too. But there are some people who feel they are the "timeshare police", so who knows?

You wondered why I pulled you over? Seems you were doing over 50 dollars in excess trade rental income - a serious misdemeanor. How do you want to plea? No contest? Then you will be fined one year of exchange membership and loss of your current year week. You'll also be on resort probation so don't even search for any times except mud season for 12 months or you'll be sentenced to a week in a maximum boring unit in Branson during January.

We know it's harsh but you people need to understand we're not joking about this. Renting is meant for the Exchange Companies to profit from. If you continue down this path you'll find your rights and privileges all revoked and you'll have no choice but seedy hotels in third world countries. It will be on your permanent record, so wise up while you can and don't let us see you back here in the Timeshare People's Court again.

Cut Patri a little slack here...

I'm sure that she meant "in violation of published terms and conditions of exchange company membership". This is, of course, distinctly different from being "illegal" (i.e., in violation of an actual statute), but I tend to think that we all know what Patri really meant... :ponder:

We know theo! The great thing about TUG is that we are all such good friends that we can 'pick on' each other a little bit and no feelings are hurt

LOL I took no offense. I just stumbled over that listing, and emailed the seller that it was against II rules. I didn't want him or a renter to get into trouble. Obviously the seller ignored me (an eBay expert with all that feedback!). So best of luck if anyone bids.

Whoaaaa. I just checked out the auction, and it is no longer active.

Some people think they can get away with anything, like the people who sell a ''white envelope'' on eBay with a ''giveaway'' of some number of ff miles attached. When the ''revenue protection units'' of the airlines, AKA ff mile gestapo, get involved, it often means loss of the entire ff account, and the ''winner'' of the bid having to pay the airline ful freight if they have already used a ticket issued on that basis, and if not, have their reservation cancelled.

Somehow exchange companies are a bit different when they do rentals of exchange deposits themselves. They are nothing but hypocrites.

Thanks for making me laugh today :)

I'm not sure if this is correct. It's almost impossible to keep up with the constantly changing rules of the various exchange companies. But would it be against the rules if the ebay seller accepted money to transfer his deposited week into the account of another member of the same exchange company?

I think the issue is with accepting money. All exchange companies are different, but my experience with Platinum Interchange and SFX is that they allow transfer of exchange weeks between members, but that was with the actual guest paying all fees to the exchange company. So, when I booked a week off of somebody else's deposit, I paid for the reservation directly to the exchange company.

Presley, any idea if this can be done with a bonus week? I have a $499 bonus week with SFX that I can't use, maybe I could offer it on the sightings board for another TUGger to use?

I like the turn this thread has taken!

Does anyone know how those '5yr guest certificate' things work? Do the Guest's have to call in and reserve or can i let them use my account to book? I'm considering buying one, but if you have to call in and 'guess' at availability and price, i don't know if its worth it
