I have long heard that II is the quality exchange network. I was surprised to see they affiliated with Taino in Freeport. That is literally one of the worst exchanges I have ever done. Does Interval actually inspect properties? Can't believe they would allow Marriott/Vistana/Welk owners trade to Taino

II has many quality exchange properties but I never assume that just because it is II, that every property offered will be a good one. I find II's resort descriptions and pictures often somewhat lacking in detail so I usually go to a site like tripadvisor and look at the more recent traveller photos to get a realistic idea of what can be expected at a particular resort before I request or book an exchange or getaway. Not all destinations have a varied and good quality selection of timeshares. In II's efforts to provide accomodations in many geographical areas they sometimes settle for offering some timeshare resorts that are not all that great. I doubt II ever actually inspects the properties but instead they probably rely on reviews submitted by members who have exchanged or bought getaways and stayed at the properties offered.

I've seen nice properties in RCI too but maintaining memberships in two of the biggest exchange companies can be expensive so II is still my go to for exchanging but I always do my due diligence regardless of II's reputation.

I remember going to a Taino presentation in 2008 and they kept telling us that Taino Beach was the #1 spot in the Interval International network. Totally laughable. They actually tried to tell me I should buy Taino Beach to get my exchanges into Maui. I'm not surprised it's aging poorly.

Not all II timeshares are high end/quality. You always need to do you research when exchanging. II does have reverse filters in place that high end resorts can't "see" some low end ones when you perform a search. If an exchanger wants one, they can still get it, but it would take a phone call.
