The latest travel date is a bit confusing to me. Is this latest date for the check-in date or check-out date? I think it's the check-in date because if I search, II alreways return weeks with check-in dates fall in the range.

But if it is the latest CHECK-IN date, since II only allows me to specify a window > 7 days, there is a chance I will be matched on the last day of my desired week (assume I want that exact Christmas week). Am I missing anything? Thanks.

For example, I booked tickers for Dec 23 to Jan 2. What is the date range I should use when I place a request. I think I would set the Earliest Date at Dec 21 ( am OK to check in 2 days later to just use 5 days instead of a full week), but I definitely don't want to be matched for a week starting on Jan 1 or Jan 2 if I set Jan 2 as my latest travel date.

As I understand, II is supposed to call and confirm any matches for a Thursday or Monday checkin. They won't automatically match to those two days. Also, since II defaults the start date of an OGS to Thursday, you should just set your searches to be Thursday to Thursday. They shouldn't automatically match a checkin date of that last Thursday.

BTW, I too find this last travel date stuff to be confusing.

Yeah, OK. Thanks for the work-around.

If you want a specific check-in date you have to call to get them to adjust the OGS. As dioxide45 said, online it defaults to the thursday before.

Just put in a request. Now I see what you mean by Thursday to Thursday. The system automatically defaults / changes to prior Thursday check in - which is very annoying. One more question for e-Plus. I didn't purchase e-Plus when I put in a request. I believe I can always add later. But is it within 14-days after confirmation, or 5-days now?

For regular exchange, you can add e-plus within 14-days, and only 5-days for OGS? Weird rules.

I see no reason to ever add Eplus at the time of placing a request. Why front more money for something that may not come through and when you can also add it after confirmation.

Yeah agree. BTW, the confirmation email says 14 days to add e-plus, so likely it is 14 days. Likely an error for 5 days. Either way, it makes sense to add later.

“E-Plus can be purchased anytime between now and 14 days after your request has been confirmed.”

Yeah, that five days seems to be an error where they didn't update the text for Eplus when is is on an OGS. You can add Eplus anytime from the date you place the request through 14 days after confirmation.

I have a newb question - for an enrolled week, if you don't add e-plus within 14 days of confirming an exchange, in theory can you retrade to another Marriott property for no fee, then add e-plus?

Yes. In that instance, as soon as you do a retrade the new confirmation will have the ability to add Eplus for 14 days.
