I recently purchased two addtional TS weeks that are outside Starwoods coporate II membership. If I wanted to be able to bank and trade them once in a while, which trading company is better? There's also Platinum Interchange, but the resorts that are usuallly available aren't really that impressive. Anyone have any insight?

I think you are going to have a hard time getting an exchange of equal quality for your Starwood weeks. I tried San Francisco Exchange Co. for awhile, but they didn't come through for me. Depending on where you bought, you may be better off renting and then using the money to rent exactly what you want. That's what we do now.

Also, you need to see who the resort is affiliated with. Even if you bought resale, if the resort is affiliated with II, I don't think you will be able to deposit with RCI, and vice versa. Even on a resale, to exchange through II, you have to go through Starwood. Of course, with an independent, you just reserve the week as if you were going to use it yourself and then deposit it directly with the independent exchange co., and then they contact Starwood and handle the exchange.

Denise,
One of the units I bought was at Kingburry Crossing and the other was a resale mud season week at Sheraton Mountain Vista. I'm not sure either of them will rent or trade all that well, but I got them both so cheaply (under $250 total for both) i thought they were worth purchasing. Can I ask how you like Kingsburry? I never been there, but the pictures look nice. I'm sure its a nice purchase for you in NoCal, I'm a bit further away, but I thought it'd be a good once a year trip for mi familia.

For sheraton Mountain Vista, it is better trading in II than RCI especially the mud season. I deposit once late, I got a mud season in RCI. I couldn't pull anything with any quality so I asked starwood to change to II ( another mud season). I managed to trade it to Orlando.

We love Kingsbury Crossing! It's our only TS within driving distance and we've been using it about every other month since we bought it a year ago in Oct. We like it so much because it's tucked back into the woods and so private and quiet, but only a block off Hwy. 50 and about 1/2 mi. from the main part of the strip. Did you know that you can rent bonus nights for just $69 a night at 60 days out? GREAT DEAL! Another thing that we really like is that it's only a short walk to Lakeside Inn, our favorite casino. There is a lovely little hike through a meadow and the woods to the beach from Hwy. 50 - one block down from the casino, as well.

Also - since you will be bringing your family - be sure you call at 12 mos. and request a 2 bdm. - they are first come first serve to all owners. Or, you could rent a 2nd unit for $69 a night.

Have you seen my pictures of K-Xing on my webpage?

Denise,
Great picts! Thanks for sharing! I'm looking forward to getting a chance to head up there. How tough have you found it to book rooms at the owners rate? I actually was kind of leaning toward renewing my RCI membership to use with both kingsburry and SMV. I believe that they both trade with either. I guess it doesn't really matter. There are alot of resorts that will get left out with either one.
