This is my second II exchange using an ongoing search (Hotel Santa Clara in Cartagena, Colombia, December 1-8--after months of waiting!). I discovered it this morning when I saw the Pending Request had disappeared. For the second time, there was no email. I requested Resend Confirmation, and it arrived. Did I accidentally find it too soon, before the automated email had a chance to go out? Or are confirmations sometimes overlooked and it's essential to check periodically?

My experience is that they show up over night. It is possible to see it online before the nightly email update. That has happened to me once.

Congrats on the exchange! Columbia sounds fascinating. We just returned from Argentina over Christmas break.

This happened with my last 2 exchanges in mid 2010. I never received the confirming e-mails and discovered the match when I checked availability in II several days later.

That's also happened to me quite a bit over the last few years, which has me checking II twice daily for ongoing search matches.

I still much prefer II for ongoing searches over RCI because I actually get my matches.

RCI ongoing searches rarely match anything.

Get your affairs in order before you head to Columbia, brave soul.

My husband and I stayed at that TS in columbia a while back and it was fantastic. One of our top trips.

I just had an exchange come thru and no email. I actually needed to cancel it and since I got no email I was 2 hrs past the 24 hr window to cancel it. A supervisor took care of it, thank goodness. I have noticed that typically my exchanges come thru in the middle of it night but this one happened like 7pm because when I called to cancel it the next evening at 9 pm I was 2 hrs late.

Maybe also check your junk mail settings.

I've never had a problem getting emails from II.

Was rather surprised that my latest ongoing search emai confirmationl came through mid morning. They usually come overnight, so I've been conditioned to always check my emails first thing.

I think matches can happen in different ways. There is the overnight process that matches requests and those e-mails come in the middle of the night. I think there are also situations where II is looking for inventory that would match requests. Perhaps they have a week for a resort that is week X, you want week Y. They may be able to call the resort company and see if they can switch the week if the resort has the availability to make the match happen. There may also be situations where you don't have the trade power to the week you are wanting, but they have it available, and they manually match it overriding the trade power limitation. This could be the cause of the mid day match confirmations?

Well this match is a non-brand name II resort, that sells intervals in 2 fixed week segments for prime seasons(ski season & prime summer) plus you get 5 off season weeks to use.

My matches back into the Starwood system always happen overnight with the 5:00 email.

I don't think trading power is an issue, I'm using a ski week in the same area and the week I got was one of 2 I requested(local event I want to attend opens the day after I check in). And the resort is one of the 4 I had listed. I know quality-wise it is at least one if not 2 steps up from my Starwood unit. Daily maid service and continental breakfast.

Email from II

I have the same problem apparently the automatically generated ones that send over night seem to get eaten by my ISP because the address on the headers doesn't match the header on the email - when you ask for a resend that seems to work - so does having your auto settings with II to a gmail acct

Wouldn't that be a nice thing for II to do! I wish they would do that for my request for Maui next month.

I know the alternates do just that. I worked with Hawaiian Timeshare Exchange for Oahu in late May, and that is how they accomplished it. They called the resort and checked for dates that matched my request. I was very pleased.

I can't see II or RCI calling a resort and asking for a different date. :hysterical:
