With II (trading summer beach week), how easy is it to get a 2 BR for the 3rd week of Aug.? I know the 4th week is fairly easy. SSR is fine with us. thanks, Elaine

Very difficult as that is still Summer and school is out for many schools and 2 bedrooms are rare then. September is much easier.

There were a lot of August listings this year. OKW and SSR had 2 beds often. August seems to have a lot of availability all month. An ongoing request would probably get it.

I saw numerous August 24th check-ins for 2 bedrooms at SSR this year. I don't know what it was about that date, but it seemed like every other day I saw at least a one bedroom come up for that date. And quite a few 2 bedrooms (which 2 bedrooms are normally pretty rare). Now, whether next summer will be the same, who knows? I agree, I'd put in an ongoing request.

This year, there were plenty of 2BR sightings with check-in on Aug 22, 23, 24, 29, 31. But you may consider those the 4th week of Sept and later rather than the 3rd week. However, there were so many studio and 1BR check-ins on Aug 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 16, 17 that my guess is that there were also 2BRs available but they were snagged by ongoing searches.

In the southeast, schools often start their school year by mid-August. NC has moved to Aug 25th or later but the mountain areas still start sooner due to needing "snow/ice" days. So school by the 2nd or 3rd week of August is still typical here, as it is in TN, SC, GA, AL, MS & FL (Orlando started on the 18th this year). So there's considerably less demand for the 3rd week of August than for early Aug or July.

DVC 2BRs seem to get deposited right up until ~3 mo ahead in quieter times like this. So I'm adding my agreement to the suggestion that you enter an ongoing search and wait, with a pretty good chance of a match :whoopie: , assuming your deposit has the quality rating that II requires for it.

Our central Indiana schools went back in session on August 11th this year (1 week earlier than last year). But supposedly the kids will be out for summer by Memorial week (as long as snow make-up days aren't required).

I think you would have a good chance at a match with an ongoing request.

I just got my II membership a few weeks ago. I got a two bedroom SSR for the week starting Aug 24 this year. I found it online a few days before check-in. I used Wyndham points. I found that I could only see Disney two bedrooms using a 3 bedroom for exchange unless it is within 2 month of check in. So you might want to play with online exchange when there is a sighting for 2 bedroom and see if you could pull it before you put in a request.
