Hi all,

I am new to timesharing. We are considering trying an exchange for next year but I feel intimidated by the process. Does anyone have printed II membership materials that they can share?

Our initial exchange would have 154k in points available for a 3br in June at a beach SC or northern FL beach location. Is this even a possibility? Or can we squeeze even more out of it? I guess I'm just trying to confirm that it'll be worth our money and time to figure this out or not.

Any tips or input would be much appreciated! If there's a way to exchange a few emails or a phone call with someone experienced in II, that would work as well.

Thanks,
Don

What kind of points are you talking about?

Your II catalog has lots of very specific membership information. After you review it, you may be able to ask more specific questions if you still have them.

If you don't have a catalog for some reason, their website should also have good general info.

Lots of info in this forum for your reading pleasure as well.

154,000 looks like a Fairfield/Wyndham number to me. A few of their resorts trade in II.

Hi all,
To follow up on my question, it is 154k in Wyndham points, and our home resort is Governor's Green. We haven't joined II yet, so we're trying to figure out whether it's worth the effort before paying the membership fee. I've read the information on here, which are helpful. I really just need someone to confirm that in most cases, I'll gain from exchanging.

Thanks!
Don

Don, FSP memberships come with a "free" membership in either RCI or II, depending on the first resort you owned. If this is your first FSP purchase, GG is suposed to be in II, but sometimes Wyn gets this wrong.

You might want to head over to forums.atozed.com---there is a lot of info there on exchanging wyndham in II.

I imagine that any exchange to a beach location during summer vacation time would be a difficult exchange, and the fact that you are looking for a 3BR unit makes it even harder, as there are not that many resorts with 3BR units. In addition, I do not know what your 154K points equates to in terms of unit size and season, but if it is not equal to a Red Season 3BR unit, it will be even more difficult to make the II exchange you desire.

That's a good point: 154K is a 2BR red in "generic terms", so you will not be able to enter an ongoing search for a larger unit. That makes your goal very very difficult.

Northern Florida might be a little easier for next summer than the South Carolina beaches, but I just ran a search with one of my two-bedrooms (Worldmark) and nothing came up. That doesn't mean you couldn't get anything, but it does mean that you'd have to put in an ongoing search that might or might not get something but not a three-bedroom.

If you want to go to Orlando, that's much easier.
