there are no 2011 placeholders. I own a 2 bedroom unit at SDO, split the unit and deposited two one bedroom units into II last year. I made one exchange last year. I just tried to make an exchange but I am only seeing 2012 placeholders and no 2011 placeholders. I have not yet done anything with my 2012 week.

If I select a 2012 placeholder, will the exchange use the remaining 2011 week or will the exchange not go through? I assume that the exchange would not use the 2012 week since I have not deposited it in II. Should I need to call II to complete the exchange?

Thanks.

Sam

Have you had a chance to read the II FAQ at the top of the forum? I recommend that you read it before you make an exchange.

Under the II/Starwood rules implemented in 2009, you can no longer see what you have deposited or exchanged. ALL you will ever see is a place holder for the current year - in this case 2012.

"In theory" Starwood will always use your oldest deposit for an exchange, but it's all done behind the scenes, and it won't be documented in your Acct.

To make an exchange, you must deposit the week first, so "in theory" your 2012 week should not be used.

If you call to make the exchange, they charge you $20 more - and it's no guarantee that Starwood will pick the right week.

We know it's stupid - but that's how they do it.
