II Exchange question

I have a pending request in for an exchange with II. Does that request stay active up until the dates of my trip or does it end early (i.e 30 days prior to check-in)? I have a hotel reserved just in case the exchange doesn't come through. But I have to cancel the exchange at least 3 days prior to check-in. If it gets that close, can I just call II and cancel the pending request?

Also, should I be calling II to check on the request or will they just notify me if something comes up? I don't want to keep calling if it really does no good.

Thanks!

Usually, during flexchange period (59 days out from check-in), pending request doesn't work well.
The best way is, check online availability often and if the week pops up, grab it.
Do not rely on it 100%.
If you don't feel comfortable checking II site often, cancel pending request and get a refund at 58 days out from requested day.

Resorts Owned
WKORV, WKV, SDO, Kauai Beach Villas, Island Park Village (Yellowstone), Hyatt High Sierra.
I had an ongoing request for a Tahoe exchange, and when we got into Flex-change, the exact week/resort I requested showed up in the online inventory - but it didn't match my ongoing request. I was able to use the same deposit to make an Instant Online Exchange. So I think it really pays to search the online inventory during Flex-change.

Thanks. I'll keep checking. My vacation week is early Feb. so I won't have to cancel the hotel until last week of Jan.
