Hi everyone. Just wanted to post my happy surprise with II and Marriott. I just got an exchange into Mountain Valley for Presidents Day week (checkin on feb 17). I had a trade for that week already, into a Grand Timber Lodge studio. Although I am a Marriott owner, I used a 4k point WM deposit to get my Grand Timber Lodge exchange.
Well, this morning, thanks to the sightings board, I saw a mountain valley studio for the same check-in day. I did an 18 minute hold and called II to do a re-exchange. I expected to pay the extra trade fee for this but II had some kind of system glitch and the rep said it would work out in my favor. The rep let me cancel my Grand Timber and re-exchange into Mountain Valley for FREE!!!
I'm so excited. This will be my first ever Marriott Vacation Club stay.
Has anyone ever stayed at Grand Timber? Looks like it is a nicer resort than the Marriott but the studio at the Marriott looks much better. The pools at Grand Timber look awesome, but I think the location of the Marriott is better and the pool at the Marriott looks more than okay.
I fully expect to check out the Grand Timber Lodge when I am in Breckinridge to see if it would be someplace I would like to exchange into for the future. Just wondering if anyone has stayed at both Mountain Valley and Grand Timber and if you have a preference. Keep in mind, I mostly switched because II let me do it for free and because the studio at the Grand Timber looked so small and the Marriott room looks MUCH nicer.
