I am trying to put together a couple of ski weeks out West this winter, late Feb or early March. As we are driving we can be flexible and use Flexchange 60 days or less out again so hopefully it will work out.
Has anybody got any input on if the Marriott points mess has impacted inventory and if II is still putting inventory out on their website at odd hours or if there are weekly times that are better than others to check?

I have a late deposit that is only good for exchanges within 60 days. Inventory for other Marriott resort has been very much hit or miss. Some days I see plenty of inventory, then the next day it's all gone. Some days there's nothing there, then all of the sudden there will be a lot of inventory.

I never remember seeing such variance in inventory in the past but, then again, I haven't typically looked for short notice vacations. Perhaps it's been like this in the past. Perhaps it's a reflection of the economic times. At any rate right now I don't consider short notice vacations to be anything worth counting on unless non-Marriott resorts are included.

There were some 2 bedroom Mountainside and Summit Watch for this week and next week. Those units are gone but they lasted a couple days. I check ski inventory all the time. If you can take something other than Marriott or Hyatt, you will have very good success getting flex trades. If you MUST have a Marriott or Hyatt then all I have seen are studios at very odd hours of the day and there is no set time to look -- best I can tell. I've seen some one bedrooms for the Marriott in Vail and even one at Breck. I am currently looking with my WM account and not my Marriott so there may be better exchanges with Marriott preference, though.

What I have noticed is that for every day of good ski week deposits, there is a week or two of hardly any new deposits. Hyatt studio weeks were plentiful up until the last three weeks, now I hardly ever see any of those weeks. I see scatterings of Marriott Breck and Vail weeks. I have seen sightings of the Park City resorts but I am either too late or Marriott preference is needed, but the most I have seen for Jan and Feb and early March are studios.

Hope that helps. I just happen to have been looking for a ski week all year.

Thanks for the feedback, I have been seeing the same change in inventory, just have not figured out a pattern:shrug:

I have seen some stdio units lingering at Falcon Pointe in Avon (Vail/Beaver Creek) during mid February.

There are also a couple of studios in Park City for Feb and March.
