Just had a bad experience with II regarding the 24 hr cancellation policy. As I read the membership guide, the policy allows you to cancel within 24 hrs of a confirmed reservation: ie. Paragraph 8

"Under II’s Exchange Cancellation Policy, a Member is entitled to
cancel a Confirmation by notifying II of his or her desire to cancel
such Confirmation within the first 24 hours after the exchange
request has been confirmed."

Did an on-line exchange request on Dec. 27. Due to a problem with the my home resort, the exchange was not confirmed until today. Called to cancel, as the plane fares have gone up. VC denied my request, since it had been more than 24 hrs since I made the exchange.

Obviously need to call back and talk to a different VC. Was just curious if anyone else has encountered this problem, and/or has successfully cancelled an exchange in a similar situation. Or am I just misreading the TC.

Welcome to II and I think their service is getting worse than before. Maybe they want to lose more customers or maybe they are just picking on me.

I wish I can start my own exchange company.:cheer:

The 24 hours start from the time you make the confirmation, not from the time your resort confirms your resort as available for use. Unfortunately it was 10 days ago so its not like your asking for a day or two more than normal.

Typically when you reserve a unit on-line, you receive two e-mails. One titled:

"Your Exchange Information from IntervalWorld.com!"

And then a second e-mail with your confirmation number.

I always took the second e-mail as the confirmation of II of the exchange. ie.

"Under II’s Exchange Cancellation Policy, a Member is entitled to
cancel a Confirmation by notifying II of his or her desire to cancel
such Confirmation within the first 24 hours after the exchange
request has been confirmed."

Meaning the 24 hr clock would start after II sent the confirmation, not when I confirm the exchange.

Your exchange is confirmed by pressing the "Confirm Exchange" button. It isnt from the time you receive your confirmation email.
If that was the case you could choose to receive your confirmations by regular mail and have several days in which to cancel.
