When does *wood usually do their bulk dumps into II? I am trying to exchange (which I have mentioned before) my 2 Bd LO SVR platinum week for a summer week at WKV. We have family there and it makes for a nice "staycation" for them and great getaway for us. There is literally NOTHING shown, even if I expand and "search other dates." I would think that a summer week in the desert should be widely available and this SHOULD be a very easy trade!! I also have an OGS out there and NOTHING filled as well.

Another question: Does *wood usually dump weeks for ALL resorts at once at certain points or do they stagger them?

Over the last year, Starwood's bulk space banking has changed dramatically, so the definitive answer is, we have no idea.

You can search the Sightings forum by resort name for historical info. - but you really cannot predict the future deposits based on the past practice.

In the past, deposits at different resorts were not at the same time.

Best practice to get an exchange is to put in an ongoing search as early as possible, then you don't have to worry about when deposits are made. Remember - ongoing searches are filled FIRST, before anything goes online.

Knowing that, I put my OGS in for NEXT MAY in mid April 2015, so it's been out there for a while. I'm just dumbfounded that NOTHING is showing up.

So a strategy question then: My WKV ownership is a EOY EVEN so I obviously do have SO that I could use in 2016. If my OGS does not fill say, by the end of the year, do I book with SO and use that SVR (annual) deposited week and hope for the exchange in 2017? I was just hoping to bank my SO for the following year in the non-usage year and use the II week that would expire in 2017. It would just be helpful if *wood would do that bulk deposit of off-season weeks.

Personally, I think that using Staroptions for SDO is a poor value. You can probably rent at SDO for less than the cost of your Staroptions.

Starwood needs inventory for the new Flex program, of which SDO is a part. I suspect that they will divert everything they can to the Flex program, so it's annoying, but not really surprising.

Not SDO....WKV!!!
