I got a call to answer some questions about the elections next year.

Among the questions was "Who would you vote for if the candidates were [A or B]?" I replied I would write in Vladimir Putin. :D Unfortunately, that answer was not acceptable. Even "none of the above" wasn't allowed. I had to settle for "undecided".

Went through the same routine with a few other parings with various Democrats and Republicans.

They also tried several variations of statements that would eventually show up in "attack ads" for both Republicans and Democrats regarding our Senate race to see if they registered. My answers to all were that such items were stupid and demeaning. Unfortunately, that was also not an acceptable answer so I had to settle for "makes no difference".

Eventually, the process will get serious, I hope.:ponder: But I dread the future when the ads start on TV. That may be the tipping point to cutting the cable cord. :)

Cheers

I used to be one of those guys that asked the questions for the polls conducted by Pew Research, not affiliated with any campaign> I always enjoyed seeing the results reported in the media

Typically these things lasted 30 to 40 minutes. Was yours that long? and do you think it was a poll conducted for one candidate or party?

Probably took 20 minutes. No upfront identification or discernible indication as to
a particular Political Party. The questions I felt were related to potential "attack ads" were aimed at both candidates for Senate.

My best guess was a group looking for info to peddle to anyone who will buy or been hired for offense for or defense against ads. If it were Pew, Quinipiac or a similar non-partisan group, it would have focused solely on the potential races.

Cheers

A gentle reminder: It's fine to discuss the poll, but if we wander off in the direction of supporting /opposing candidates, parties, or issues, you know what will happen.

I've gotten the poling phone calls a few times. I usually enjoy answering them. Sometimes it's very obvious that it's campaign research or not even research at all, just disguised as research.

A gentle reminder: It's fine to discuss the poll, but if we wander off in the direction of supporting /opposing candidates, parties, or issues, you know what will happen.

I kind of feel like his answer to the poll question has already wandered off. He's clearly saying who he opposes.

I know the attack ads are effective but I for one get very tired of seeing them every election cycle. All of the candidates (regardless of party) seem to do it. I would be much more tuned in and interested if the ads would explain what the candidates want to do and support vs. why the other candidate(s) should not be elected...

JMHO

I, for one, refuse to participate in polls or any surveys, for that matter.
My attitude is that my time is valuable. If you're not gonn'a pay me, you won't hear nothin'.

If I say anything at all, it's how much will you pay me? "Click."

Political attack ad by 94 yr old

Canadian federal election ad
from October 2015 campaign - you will love this !!!

Google Hazel McCallion asks " Do I looked scared to you "

Hazel was the mayor of Mississauga Ontario from 1978 - 2014
current population 750,000+ ( immediately west of Toronto )

this ad is an endorsement ( she was not running )

Hazel is currently 94

( Stephen lost )

My response is usually along the line of I don't trust any politician and I plan to move to New Zealand. They would usually try to ask me in another way and then finally gave up.

I got a call from Nielsen a couple of weeks ago, then a mailed questionnaire about our TV watching. I volunteered to keep their silly diary. Boy, this is gonna be boooooring! PBS, PBS, Jeopardy, PBS, PBS. There, that's done.

Are you able to get PBS OTA ?- then you could list the sub-channels like
Create & World and really confuse them

and I love telling the callers from Bell Fibe TV (Satellite- like Dish ) that I will take their package - if they can beat my current price
FREE FOREVER is hard to beat .
