I was browsing through Trading Places and noticed I still have 4 bonus weeks in there and one was expiring soon so I decided to take a look at the inventory. They do have a lot of Maui Schooner for the time we will be on Molokai and I thought about splitting time but I changed my mind when I checked out availability for Oahu. They had a week at the Imperial Waikiki for 08-23-20 to 08-30-20. I checked with my wife and she liked the idea so I grabbed it.

$144 for the week. There is a $6 a day resort fee but still nice for a staycation. I will probably only take a day or two off. My wife can enjoy a change of scenery. It’s only about three blocks from where we live but straight toward the ocean. Maybe we’ll get lucky and get a good view, I’m sure there won’t be as many people even if travel is opened up by then.

I am thinking of using one or two more of these bonus weeks for when I have to go to the other islands for work. I will just have to talk my wife into that.

I used to own at the Imperial for a few years. I never made it there, I either rented the week out or exchanged. We have been by it since we have been here but never stopped in so we are glad it worked out and are looking forward to it.

Good Deal(s)! Sometimes age and luck beats youth and skill! Good luck on those bonus weeks.

Try to stay on one of the higher floors. We’ve stayed there four or five times and had really nice rooms. Last time we were given a lower level room and had a view of a brick wall!

I used to own at the Imperial. Ask for a high floor on the Ewa side of the building. The Diamond Head side has limited views. But even if you get a poor view, go to the top floor to the Owner's Lounge - it has outstanding views. That's where the swimming pool is anyway.

The kitchens are extremely limited. Don't expect to cook much in them. (But again, there is a full kitchen in the Owner's Lounge.)

The Denny's adjacent to the lobby is/was open 24 hours - perfect if you need a burger at 3:00AM... ;)

The ABC Store on the other side of the lobby is one of the best run I've seen. Really clean and well stocked.

Note that the Imperial elevators are extra slow. Do not expect them to be timely if you're in a hurry.

Have fun!

Thanks for the tips. I am thinking there will still be some quarantine so I am think into won’t be too crowded but we’ll see.
