Boy was I wrong. Now there are fires all over Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties as well as Santa Barbara. Santa Ana's are common in November but usually we have had some rain so the fire danger is relatively low at this time of the year. Normally the bad fire season is in September and October. However, we have only had a couple of drizzles since last April.

The fire in Corona has burned over 500 mobile homes and jumped the 91 freeway and is up in Anaheim hills. Of course whenever this happens, traffic becomes a mess. My daughter drove over from Los Angeles to pick me up here in Murrieta to go to the the Los Angeles King's hockey game at the Staples Center last night. We were supposed to meet in Corona. However, freeway 91 was closed due to the Corona fire so she had to take the Southerly route as everybody else did. In any event we finally arrived at the game at 9:30 pm with just 13 minutes left to go in the game. Normally we would have been at the Staples Center by 7:00 pm.

Of course this was very minor compared to the poor folks who have lost their homes.

So far it has been very dry. I am hoping for a very wet winter or we are going to have very severe water rationing. They have already announced that Southern California will only get 15% of their water allotment next year unless we get some very serious rain. There is still hope as February and March are the 2 wettest months of the year.

I think I heard on the radio that Schwarnegger said that due to global warming issues, that alone would eat up 23 B of California budget.

Unfortunate Victim

Since I live in north OC, I was one of the unfortunate ones evacuated yesterday. Around 3 in the afternoon, the cops drove up the street and with their PA announced that there was an evacuation order. We packed up the valuables and the wife and kid left. They went to a friends house a few miles away. I stuck around for another hour, until the cops came knocking on the door telling me I had to leave. I met up with the family and hung out with the friends for a while. Then around 6 PM decided it was best to find a hotel. Stayed at nearby Hilton for $109 a night and watched the news all night. Woke up and heard at 9 AM they were lifting the evac order. Came home and our house was still there. About a mile away, several of the houses had burned down. A little further down, 50 apartment units were destroyed. Its going to be a sad day tomorrow at my kid's elementary school.:bawl:

I am sooo glad you are ok. Everytime I hear of someone's house burning I start shaking. I lost my house to fire in 82 and can remember it like yesterday. I feel so sorry for all the ones going thru this. It is very scary and hard to go thru. I got thru by saying oh well, I needed to remodel anyway. Possessions can be replaced, family can not. shaggy
