I'm sure there is a simple answer for this but maybe someone here can help me with this - I have read several Marriott threads and am not clear on my particular issue....
I just purchases Marriott Branson resale and have an owner number. I registered with II and expect my II member number in a few days. I called Marriott today to get my chosen week and then mentioned at the end that I expect to call II and deposit both the master and guest suite parts of my reservation. I was told that if I did not tell her I was going to do this in this same reservation call and give her my II number, I will pay a $29 fee to do this later. I think this sounds strange. I don't want to change the reservation in any way, just deposit with II once I have my II number, and I may even do this online rather than by phone. The Marriott rep said she would waive the fee if I called her directly later in the week - she would make a note in my account. Why would she say this?

I want to confirm that I can get an AC and then deposit both sides of the unit. What process do you take to do this by phone or online in order to avoid the extra fee?

Thanks for the help.

There is no extra fee. Just log in to the II website and deposit your week. Sounds like a misinformed customer service rep. While there is a $29 fee to cancel or change a reservation, there isn't a fee to deposit. II charges a fee to make a request or complete an instant exchange.
The Marriott reps want to be able to do the deposit for you. You don't have to go through them, but if you indicate to them you want to deposit with II they can do that for you.

Agree, there should be no fee.

The only stretch I can see with this rep is that he/she might think she has to change the reservation to another week to deposit (which does not have to happen).

The rep could also be confusing the process with trading your week in for Marriott points. If your week can be traded for Marriott reward points we are not supposed to make a reservation for a specified week and then trade it in for points. Marriott will charge $29 if we make the reservation and then later decide to turn the week in for MR points.

No fee to deposit like the poster before me has explained.

Branson has both dedicated 2BRs and 2BR lock-offs.
If OP said they wanted to reserve their 2BR for one week - maybe they were given this specific type of unit????

Ordinarily, if you are 'locking-off', there is a $75 fee payable to Marriott at the time of reservation.

$29 is a fee you pay when u change the reservation to a diferent date.

You must call Marriott to lock-off your unit if you want to deposit a Studio and a 1BR with II. Otherwise you will be depositing a 2BR unit with II.

This lock-off will cost $79 as stated above. Marriott claims to charge $29 to change (the date of) a reservation, but has never charged me yet - I have made about 4 changes.

Branson is receiving AC's for many platinum 2009 weeks, but not all. Call II to find out which 2BR weeks qualify and if any 1BR units quality. If your reserved week is not one of the ones being offered an AC, call Marriott back and try to book one that does (may cost $29).

I was charged the $29 fee once. Even spoke with a supervisor and she claimed I was suppose to be charged the $29 fee since I changed my mind from occupying to depositing into II. I think the fee is bogus. So, instead of calling Marriott to deposit my week in II, I just go to the II site and deposit the week myself. If you do get a rep that wants to charge you... just hang up and try through the II site.

However, a couple of weeks ago I changed my check-in day from Sat to Sun and I wasn't charged the $29. I totally was expecting to pay since that really was change. But nope... I wasn't charged.

Terry

Thanks to all for clarifying. I will try to do the deposit with the Marriott desk at II directly or online. I did lock off my unit and paid that fee already which I had expected.

Terry, I suppose I should have checked with II about the dates for ACs before booking (clearly this is my first time working with II and Marriott:rolleyes:). I had read here that the summer months were getting ACs so I assumed that would still be true at this point, for both 2 bedrooms and 1 bedrooms. I have a week 27 reservation for both sides of the unit so I'm hoping the 1 bedroom will qualify. I don't actually know if I'll even use the AC yet, but I want to keep our options open and practice with everything a little this year.
