Help!! I sent my cancellation and it was received on Thursday. I got correspondence from blue green today (obviously sent before they received the cancellation) welcoming me and saying that if I need to cancel to telegraph them at an address that I have never seen nor did I send my original cancellation to. What should I do?! Thanks!

Now this is rich ! Telegraph ? What next ? Pony Express ? Carrier Pigeon ?

As Denise advises, follow the directions to the letter.

Copy everthing and if you already haven't, note a cc: on all future correspondance to the AG (Attorney General) of the state that the BG t/s is in. You can get the AG's mailing address by Googling it.l

I cannot abide these absurd practices ! So glad you found Tug !

Repeat to yourself...

Ok. I followed the directions in my original contract. So I should be fine?

If you followed the original contract rescission (cancellation) instructions precisely, correctly and within the time period of the applicable state's law, then the sales weasels quite simply have no other choice or option other than to cancel the contract and issue you a full refund of your deposit. It's the law --- it's not a kindness or a favor somehow being charitably (or voluntarily) extended to you by these slimy weasels.

And at the risk of sounding like a broken record --- stay off the phone on this matter!
No possible good can come of legally meaningless phone conversation on a contract matter and the weasels will only use phone babble to attempt to delay, cajole and /or confuse you. Don't give them the opportunity.

Telegraph, that is a new one but I guess the sales weasels have trouble sleeping at night and conjecture up new angles.

99.9% sure documents you signed at closing and got copies of say they can only be changed in writing by mutual consent and by duly authorized BG executive.

You may also want to consider timeshares in Mexico. Most of them are RTU (right to use) instead of deeded, and the contracts expire after a certain length of time, instead of following you to the grave :) Some people here discount Mexico as the timeshares have less trading power and are fairly easy to trade into. You can find Mexico timeshares on eBay with just a few years remaining on the rtu contract - an easy way to get your feet wet without making a huge commitment.

You'll also want to know if the resort is AI (all inclusive) or not. AI means a fee, usually daily, separate from your maintenance fees. This gets you varying degrees of free food and alcohol. Some resorts are AI optional, some are AI mandatory and some don't offer AI at all.
