I have an exchanged book in May that I need to cancel. I did purchase Eplus and have all 3 trades available. I've been looking almost every day for something to switch it to and haven't seen anything, yet. I have no retrade plans since I won't be able to set up an ongoing search.

I can keep searching every day and hope something comes up that I can use, but I worry that I won't find anything and end up getting stuck with the <60 day trade window.

I could cancel the exchange and set up an ongoing search, but would I lose the Eplus trade benefit that I already paid for?

I am considering offering the week to my employee, but her husband's future is a bit unstable and I'd hate to buy a guest certificate only to have to cancel it on shorter notice.

I could Eplus trade for something at the end of the year so it will allow me more time to search, knowing that I wouldn't be keeping that trade, but it would give me a lot more time to find something in online inventory that I'd be able to use.

Just curious what others would do in a similar situation.

Thats one reason I like Tapatalk, to set up instant push notifications on the Sightings forum. :). It beats searching yourself, thats how I got Laguna Surf in Aug. I think you have a little time to hold out for an eplus trade.

I would keep doing what you are doing up until day 61 (truthfully, I would probably chicken out around day 70) then I would book something as far out as possible - Orlando is probably easiest - then keep looking. Something will come up. Does your underlying deposit have any preference?

Eplus only allows you to search out a year from your first exchange. So, you can just use one eplus exchange to the furthest date possible. You'll still have two more free eplus exchanges that you can use to actually trade into the property that you desire. This will allow you to not worry about the 60 day window and give you an additional year to find a place that you want to actually visit.

In the past, I have also intentionally used up all of my free eplus retrades so that I can book a desired property further out than a year from my first exchange. After your eplus retrades are used up, you can still do the full fee retrades and you can search out 2 years from the booked date of your original deposit.

Is that only for Ipad/iphone?

Marriott, but I likely will not be booking a Marriott.

Just want to clarify what I think you are saying. I can book the last week in December right now with Eplus and then I will have all of 2017 to search for an exchange? Or, will it actually expire in January 2017 (when the original deposit expires)?

My original deposit should expire in January 2015, but it is letting me search out to a year beyond my exchange in May.

"Please select travel dates within the following days:
12/21/2015 - 05/22/2017"

It looks like a glitch to me. People would be able to extend their deposits out really far if that isn't a glitch by using Eplus.

Eplus is not tied to your original deposit expiration. Eplus uses your first exchange week as the baseline and allows you to search a year out from that week. So your first exchange was for a week in May 2016 so you can search out to May 2017. As time passes, you will still only be allowed to search out to May 2017 until you hit 60 days before your May 2016 check-in.

So what you can do now is to re-trade into a "random" May 2017 timeshare week. If you do this, you will not have to worry about hitting the 60 day window until Mar 2017 and can continue to manually search for a resort week that you actually want to use.

Cancelling and doing an OGS could be more convenient but you will have to pay another full re-trade fee and lose your unused eplus re-trades. You may also lose any of the preference period of your original deposit (e.g. if it was a Marriott week).

Hope this is clear. Let me know if you still have questions on eplus.

The reason that I asked about preference is because Marriott makes some nice last minute deposits. If nothing else you may be able to get a week at NCV, so no worries about airfare.
