We are leaving in a few days and I'm taking the crock pot with me. I'd love something new for the slow cooker.

I often do BBQ chicken and pork chops with cream of mushroom soup. My repetoire of recipes though is not vast, so any additions would be welcomed!

Thanks in advance.

Once owned these: FirstFairway@Walden X 2; Lawai Beach; ManhattanClub; PuebloBonitoRose; 4 South Africa--now timeshare-free
A gal in our small group Bible study brought some meatballs she had done in a slow cooker and they were outstanding. This sounds like the recipe except she just bought the pre-cooked meatballs at Costco, I think, and added just the chili sauce and grape jelly from this recipe:

COCKTAIL MEATBALLS
1 lb. hamburger
1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
1/3 c. finely chopped onion
1/4 c. milk
1 egg
1 tbsp. chopped parsley
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 (12 oz.) jar chili sauce
1 (10 oz.) jar grape jelly
Brown meatballs in skillet. Remove meatballs from skillet. Drain fat. Heat chili sauce and jelly in crock pot until jelly is melted. Add meatballs and simmer in crock pot for 30-60 minutes on low or until done. Makes 5 dozen meatballs.

We use ours constantly. Flank streak with some liquid smoke makes carne asada. Any sort of roast covered with dry onion soup is falling-apart wonderful after 6-8 hours. Add veggies the last couple hours. You can make steel-cut oats overnight.

There's a 'Fix and Forget' cookbook we got at Costco with hundreds of recipes, and you can always Google 'Slow Cooker_______recipe' when you have an idea what you want.

When we travel and have one, we start something and go out for the day. Dinner is ready when we get back to the TS. (hint-spray with PAM for easy cleanup)

CP Beef Burgundy

2 lb. of lean beef, cubed. (round steak works well)
1 can mushroom soup
1 cup burgundy or dry red wine (can substitute beef broth)
1 pkg. dehydrated onion soup mix (Lipton onion soup)
Optional
1 onion, chopped
1 pkg. or can sliced mushrooms
Fresh minced garlic to taste
Add a vegetable for a one dish meal.

1. Cube, season and brown beef.
2. Put all ingredients in crockpot and cook on high until simmering and then turn down to low for about 2 hours. Or cook on low for 6- 8 hours.
3. Serve over noodles, mashed potatoes or rice.

This is great as a stew if you add cubed potatoes and carrots.

For easy clean up use a disposable crock pot liner.

** SOUPER Beef STROGANOFF **
(note this is just as tasty with chicken)

1 (2 to 3 lb.) beef roast or round steak, cubed
1 small bottle of steak sauce

1 tbsp of worchestershire sauce
1 can of cream of celery soup (or cream of mushroom)
1 can of sliced mushrooms (drained)
1 tsp of minced garlic
1 small can of tomato sauce
-------------------------------------
1 16 oz. carton of sour cream

Add all of the top ingredients in crockpot. Blending together and making sure roast is covered. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. One hour prior to serving remove roast and shred. Return roast to crockpot and add sour cream. Let cook for 45 minutes more.

Serve over hot noodles.

Creamy Crockpot Chicken

Creamy Crockpot Chicken

3 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1/2 cup no salt butter (might want to use a little less)
1 pkg. dry Italian salad dressing mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup white wine (I use a mini bottle of Chardonnay)
4 oz. Onion & Chive Cream Cheese
sliced mushrooms (either canned or fresh)

Cooked rice or pasta.

Place chicken and mushrooms in crockpot. In sauce pan melt butter. Stir in Italian salad dressing mix, soup, cream cheese and wine. Mix until smooth.. Pour over chicken. Cook on low for 4-5 hours. Separate chicken breasts into bite-size chunks before serving.

Pour over cooked pasta or rice.

Warning! Do not add salt as this recipe is salty as is and that's why I use unsalted butter.

Easiest Shredded Pork Barbeque Ever

1 pork butt or picnic shoulder (bone in or out)
1 can coke

Put Pork in pot whole with Fatty side up
Pour Can of Coke over meat
Cover and cook on High for 6 hours
Remove pork and it will fall apart into shredded pork leaving most of the fat in the pot.

Sauce
mix 1 cup vinegar with 1/4 cup ketchup and a tablespoon each of red pepper flakes and sugar. Shake or stir until well blended. Pour over each serving as desired.

This makes great sanwiches as well, on soft burger buns.

Enjoy!

I'd also put country style pork ribs in the cooker, covered them with a light coating of BBQ sauce and let cook until very tender. Not "authentic" ribs by any means, but an easy way to get tender ribs. For another source, you can try allrecipes.com and search for slow cooker.

I'd do this one but buy frozen meatballs. Heck, if you do that, you could just make it in the oven.

Thank you guys so much! I'm am going to try some of your suggestions. I'm getting hungry just reading the responses!

That chocolate mess recipe looks way too good. Can't wait to try that. Also, I didn't know about some of those recipe sites like allrecipes.com so I will check those out as well.

I appreciate you all taking the time to respond with thoughts and recipes. I will report back later and let you know what I tried. I love the slow cooker! On vacation especially, it makes my life so much easier. We have two young children so we eat pretty much all our meals in our t/s.

You guys are the best!

Cheers,
Janna

This sounds just like the meatballs someone in my bible study group brought too! How funny. I was not able to get the recipe when she brought them but I remember something about grape jelly, so I bet this is it.

Thanks for this one!

Triple Chocolate Mess

It did make a hit when I first posted it a long time ago. Someone even got it out of the crock pot like a cake. I think that's overdone.....

I can't even have it any more because I am gluten free.

1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp garlic powder
1 bay leaf
3 -4 whole peppercorns

I'm not Gluten Free but my household is and I'm the cook. Wonder how many Tuggers fall into the G-F category? Maybe a new thread in the lounge??
