For years I have been going to Orlando and staying at DVC resorts. I am making a last minute trip in two weeks to see my friend who is having a hard time after her twin sister's passing. I need to book something off property as Disney has nothing available for my week. I have it narrowed down to three Marriott resorts - Grande Vista, Harbour Lake and Royal Palm. It will be just my friend and me and we are looking for a relaxing place. We plan on just visiting. No theme parks. What would you suggest? Thanks!

I would avoid Harbour Lake. It is best for young families or groups with young children. Grande Vista can be great as they have a ton of evening entertainment; singer, comedian, luau show, etc. Royal Palms will be quiet and is older. You would have access to amenities at the Orlando World Center Marriott Hotel. Here is a video that compares all the Orlando Marriott Vacation Club resorts.

@dioxide45 I noticed Harbour Lake posted that they are refurbishing the villas starting this month. Do you have any insight or inside scoop? I may be going in December.

I looked back through our spring newsletter and don't see any mention of it. I recall they last renovated around the start of COVID. Though it might have just been before COVID. Though our first stay during COVID we were in an unrenovated villa. This seems along the lines of their 5 year refurbishment cycle. The last refurbishment was pretty extensive, so I would expect this one to be soft goods only. Though I am not 100% sure.
