I met the Jonas Brothers

S

Steamboat Bill

I just got back from a Jonas Brothers concert and had meet and greet passes and VIP tix.

I was able to meet the band and my daughter totally freaked out as I was able to get a photo of her hugging the Jonas Brothers. I just gave them a high-5 and did not get a pic of me with them.

This was my first "teenie bopper" concert and I could not believe how many thousands of screaming teen girls were there...and no teen boys in sight.

How cool! This is something your daughter will remember for a loooong time. And the fact that Dad took her...priceless memory.

She said this was one of the best days of her life.

She also has a ton of Jonas Brothers posters in her room, tons of magazines (like there is any difference here), and listens to their music and videos all the time.

I left the VIP seating to take a break and found a Cruzan Rum bar and they gave me a "free" killer Pinapple rum drink that was very tasty and hit the spot.

Funny, all the parents had the same confused look as me...makes me wonder about my own parents, but I can;t recall every going to a concert with them. Many of them had earplugs in and after hearing all the constant scremaing for hours, I will invest in a prir if I every go to one of these events again.

Sounds like fun. Meeting the Jonas Brothers is my daughter's dream. How did you get the Meet and Greet passes?

Sounds like fun. Meeting the Jonas Brothers is my daughter's dream. How did you get the Meet and Greet passes?

I have a friend that works in the industry and has connections with the someone that works for the band...thus, I had to pull a few strings.

We had to wait in line for about 1.5 hours (we were near the front as we got there very early) and the meet and greet lasted about 1 minute for hugs and photos. My daughter was in shell-shock as she could not believe what was happening and I thought she was going to faint.

She can't even talk today as a result of her screaming at the concert. My ears are ringing a little and I will pack tan earplugs if I ever go again.

I had 4 VIP meet and greet tix plus VIP seating (the meet and greet was a blue armband) and actually was able to squeeze in 7 people as I went as a "parent" and my daughter met a few of her friends at the concert and hid behind me.

I saw a eBay sale for 4 tix (section 6 and we were in section 3) that sold for $14,000 (there were 94 bidders)and our tickets were much better location.

I let all the girls take the seats while my wife and I stood further back in the walkway as I did not need to be so close to the stage. The brothers sprayed foam out into the audience during the concert and I was glad that I did not get foamed, like the kids did.

Although my style of music is rock and roll like "U2" I thought the Jonas Brothers put on a fantastic show and their parents must be incredibly proud of their achievements for such a young age group.

I just could not get over the sight of THOUSANDS of screaming teenaged girls all singing, dancing, and scremining at this event. Someone is making a huge amount of money off this phenomenon and teenage boys ae missing the boat here (if you know what I mean).

The Jonus Brothers played at my dd's school (total 200 students) a couple of years ago. Talk about up close and personal. :whoopie: Oh yeah, it was free to the students.

Brings back cool memeories for me. Kelli has gone backstage so many times from the Nelson Twins to going on Wynonna's and Trick Pony's Bus. We have gone all over the place for concerts. ( I am the cool Mom) We once went to see Jo Dee Messina at the Cherokee Casino/Harrah's and all of those who went put a slip in the barrell. After the concert they chose Kelli to pull out the winners and she pulled out her own ticket!!! She was screaming. She won $500 and asked me , now mom, can I go swimming with the dolphins? We were leaving the next week. Just keep on being a "cool Dad" shaggy

I just found the autographed picture she had of the three of them. She left it home. She's told me lately that while she thought they were "cute" when she first saw them, she's over them. I guess she's already outgrown them. ;)

My 10 yr. old granddaughter would also think she was in "heaven", if she could just go to the concert , much less meet and greet and VIP! You dd will have special memories of this event for her entire life, I'm sure......Nice job, dad!!!

What fun, and how great for the girls to have parental support. I never heard of the Jonas Brothers till last Thanksgiving, when I was watching the Macy's parade (DD was playing her tenor sax with the Ravens' band) - the teeny boppers near us were going crazy for the Jonas Brothers.

I took DD to an American Idol concert a few years ago when she was madly in love with Ace Young (ok, I've got to admit I also was smitten). Got reasonably-priced tix on eBay and we had a blast! Doing something together like that was special, especially since she thinks I'm an old geezer :p

My daughter also loved the Jonas Brothers and was quite fortunate to catch them live and for free at a not well attended outdoor concert at the Shops at Atlantic City last summer.
It wasn't well publicized and most people in AC are not there for that sort of thing so she was able to be up close and very personal.
There's something really special about an intimate venue, where they wink at you, touch your hands etc. Beats those large venues any day and she was happy to have the experience.

Bill, was this the same concert you saw? I just got this from a friend:

"I brought my daughter to see the Jonas Brothers on Friday in West Palm Beach FL. We flew down from RI. We had 3rd row seats and Matt Damon and his people were being escorted back stage and I grabbed my daughter and we blended in with his people and got back stage. My daughter got to meet Demi, Jonas Bro parents, Mat Damon, big rob. We got kicked out before the Jonas bros came out of their dressing room. But all I can say is Matt is a really nice guy and let us take pictures with him. He was with a little girl. We saw him talking with the Jonas Bros. parents, I'm not sure why he was at the concert but I am happy to have met him!"

Hi Bill ... how did it compare to the Hanna Montana show you took her to some time back? You're a good dad ... wanna adopt me? :)

same concert...awesome....my daughter said it was one of the best days of her life (ugh!) and has taken the pic of her and the Jonas Brothers to school so she can put it in her locker.

Yes, I had front row seats for Hannah Montana, but sent my wife instead.

I would have passed on The Jonas Brothers, but I HAD to be there to get the Meet and Greet tix as they were in my name.

We escorted the girls to their seats and even squeezed in a few additional of their friends that they met there and my wife and I went to the Cruzan Rum Tent for VIP free rum drinks, comfortable chairs, and much quieter seating.

------------------

Funny story - when we were in line for the Meet and Greet, I was talking to the mom in front of us and mentioned that my style of music is "U2" and all the kids wanted to know who "U2" is.

Hannah Montana

Last year when Hanna Montana was coming to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, I was advised by a comrad that purchasing resale tickets would cost a mint. He suggested that buying season tickets (20 concerts) would be the way to go, so I did. I bought 4 season tickets, and just as my comrad had suggested, the resale for HM alone would have been about the same price.

The HLSR only released a few single HM tickets on a lottery basis as they continued to sell "packages" of tickets which included HM. Anyhow, DW & DD got to go with two others and I was able to go and see several good performances for myself. I enjoyed it so much that I renewed for '09.

Bill, good for you, because I am not so sure I would have done it had I been the one carrying the kids along.

I agree that men and boys were a rare sight at these concerts. But it got me thinking...wow, someone is making a ton of money off these events.
