As you may know, we acquired a High Sierra TS recently. I just put in a request with Hyatt for a 3 or 4 night stay in July or August at the High Sierra. Due to my husband's stroke in Mar, I delayed submitting the request until I had a better idea of his medical status, and the points have to be used by mid-Sept. I didn't request early Sept. because we already have another big trip planned in Sept. The reservation system would only allow me to request 3, 4 or 7 nights and I don't have enough points for 7 nights, and don't want to borrow from next year.

• I know I have a 60 day reservation window - is that a problem when you put in a request, or do they just work with it?
• If I requested 7 nights and it became available would Hyatt automatically borrow the points from 2023?
• Should I go ahead and put in another request right now so I can try to book 2 stays and use of all of the points?
• If I only book one stay, can I still deposit the remaining points, or is that not allowed?

To borrow points you need to prepay and call in to get the reservation. Wait lists won't fill the last 30 or 60 days , I can't recall which.
,so I would check the site every morning and call in right away if you see something. We have done well with last minute cancelations in Maui. As soon as someone cancels inventory shows up. Good luck.

Tahoe in summer is not a high likelihood of success but there’s no harm in trying.

If you’d rather use the points in Hyatt, then yes, put in multiple requests.

Hyatt will not automatically borrow points.

I believe you can deposit points to II prior to your owned week but not after. For example, if when you say “the points expire in Sept,” you mean that you own a March week, then you would have needed to deposit to II in March. 1-800-gohyatt will be able to provide that info for sure.

I personally find that obsessively stalking the HRC website can lead to reservation success even when I have a waitlist for the identical reservation.

You don't actually pay $41 when you put a request in Hyatt. You put in your credit card number, but it's only charged when you get a match.

We have gotten multiple Maui Hyatt weeks 30 days out both in summer and during whale season so don't rule anything out

And, the COVID resurgence is messing with people’s plans. So you’re right, it could happen.
