I just cancelled my Aug 29 to Sep 5 accommodation certificate exchange (costing $399) for Marriott Ocean Pointe

Last Saturday, I used an Interval International accommodation certificate to book one of the many timeshare units made available at Marriott Ocean Pointe. I booked a 1200 square foot 2 BR. I did so because I know that OP owners of 2 BRs pay about $2900 a year maintenance fee. But the more I thought about it, I (and we) really didn't want to go. I'm just not crazy about that Riviera Beach, Palm Beach Shores area. I first called II to find out if I could offer it on TUG for exactly what I paid (399 plus a nominal amount of tax such that it was about $435). And they said, No. You can't get a dime for it or your membership will be cancelled". I don't know if that's right (I heard it twice, once from a first rep and then from a supervisor to whom I asked to speak) and, at that point, I didn't want to fight with anyone but just said, "Cancel". So the week may already have shown up or will soon show up. I got back my money and the accommodation certificate is back in my account.
 
Yes it is correct that you can't rent out or sell on any II reservation, its in the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you made the reservation.

Accom certs have 24hrs that you can cancel it, after that its non refundable and non changeable.

Before I made the reservation, realizing that I wanted to think about it, I made sure to call II and ask if accommodation certificates had the same 24 hours that one has with exchanges. I was told "yes" and, furthermore, since II is closed Sunday, that I would actually have until Monday to cancel. Which I did.
 
Sorry but you missed a great resort at an unbelievable price. We don't love the public beach area either but the property is expansive and private and well run. We have so many favorite restaurants in Juno and Jupiter.

To each his own. Already booked our second trip there this year in a few months.

There are amazing deals in August and September in Fl with the hurricane season so I will have to look next year for what you found.

I agree.
This year I got a Beach place 2 bedroom on a freebie AC and I am checking out today.
This year there have been several good Marriott beach units available on the freebie ACs for all of the south Florida beaches including Marco island. Mostly last minute but I was able to book my unit 2 months ago.
 
I noticed that South Fl east (the palm beaches) is now high season basically all the time in Interval after adjustments... so that may be helping to create extra interval inventory this time of year.

Maybe South Fl east is the same.
 
I’m looking forward to going to Palm Beach Shores in November for a week!

Well beach place had a 90% occupancy the week I was there end of August which I would not have considered high season so apparently the tourists haven’t gotten the memo.
Seems that Miami and Fort Lauderdale have become popular year round now.
Our traffic is getting worse every year and now there are Waymos popping up all over.
