I have joined the club of a few others on TUG, the loss of a spouse

DH passed away Sept. 15 at the nursing home. A son had said he would visit on Sunday, so I am very happy I saw him on Saturday. We got the call in the middle of the night. Four of our five children and I were with him when he died. It was heartbreaking, but also beautiful in its own way. Death was the final side effect of his 2015 major stroke.
The funeral was a week ago, but it seems like eons. I am tying up all those loose ends. I have signed forms already, indicating I am a widow. I don't like that term. We had 45 years together. I am blessed by that.

Sending condolences on the loss of your hubby. Nine years is a long time to live after a major stroke, but he is free from those debilitating effects now. I am glad most of your children were with you, and all of you with him, when he passed. As others have said take some time for yourself and take care.

Initiation is rough. I just passed 10th Anniversary of Membership and I can still feel the pain of it. I was surprised by the level of physical pain that comes with grief. My first word of advice would be to allow yourself to feel the sadness. There will be time for all the rest.
